RUSSIAN SEXY FITNESS MODELS 1 and 2
DON'T DO IT! WASTE OF MONEY! Nothing erotic here, as they claim. There is absolutely NO nudity in this video and it has nothing to do with fitness. There is NO "bonus material" as they claim on the cover. The entire video is LESS THAN 25 MINUTES LONG. But, considering the footage on this DVD, 25 minutes is way too long. Much of the video is scratchy and blurred, I guess they were going for an old time projector "special effect" look, for whatever reason. NOTE TO PRODUCERS EVERYWHERE: Skip the cheezy "special effects" and just show the ladies! I will never buy another product from these people again, they have no right to be in the video biz.
You'll find more "erotic excitement" paging through the woman's underwear pages of the Sears catalog than you'll find in this video. I don't want to slam the models here, but I doubt they are even Russian, just out of work actresses using "made up" Russian names. This low-budget production couldn't even afford to pay them enough to get naked, how could they afford to find real Russians?
I actually considered trying to sell my copy as "used" before giving it a bad review, but then I decided to do the right thing and warn all of you not to buy this piece of crap. So many productions out there are completely misleading with their video cover pictures and author reviews. It is up to us to inform and warn each other about terrible videos such as this series.
In fact, if you are stranded alone on a deserted island with just a generator, a TV, a DVD player, and either "Russian Sexy Fitness Models" DVD, Vol. 1 or 2, you may try hanging yourself with the power cords after watching this video. But don't do that, don't waste your valuable time watching it, try this instead, scratch a rescue note onto the DVD disc, fling it out into the ocean, then maybe a big fish will eat it, then maybe a fisherman will catch that fish, clean it find your note and rescue you.

Metrosexuality (2001) Review

Metrosexuality (2001)

I heard about this British series from some entertainment magazines, but nothing could have prepared me for this. Fast-paced, colorful, eclectic cast, incredible music, and the dialogue! I've seen nothing like it, but it's hip and poignant at the same time. Two gay black fathers, separated and on the verge of divorce, raising a spitfire of a seventeen year old straight son with two gay best friends an angst-ridden and horny girlfriend with a sexy lesbian best friend and an awnry loud-mouth father...I could go on, and I will: the brassy recovering drug addict and her earnest boyfriend, the plucky lesbian couple, the homophobic ex-military man and new gay boyfriend, etc. etc...This show has it all. And the extras on this DVD are great...Extensive interviews with cast and the creator, behind-the-scenes footage AND the amazing soundtrack album with over 15 songs on it...This is a bargain...a real treat. I can't give this a higher recommendation. The whole package is stellar...A family sitcom for the not-so-new-anymore millenium...Forget QUEER AS FOLK, this is the real treasure of a British import.

Carleen Beadle, Karl Collins, Mat Fraser, Michael Dotchkin, Rikki Beadle Blair , Silas Carson - Director: Rikki Beadle Blair Metrosexuality opens with its enthusiastic cast (all cladin their underwear) singing the show's theme song, "It's All About Love." As the more than two dozen characters play out their lives and loves in this infectious, light-hearted romp through London's Notting Hill, audiences will quickly get caught up in the action. This amusing, fast-pacedseries includes all of the staples of a naughty adult soap opera -- cheating lovers, fabulous hair and costumes, copious sex and drugs, even an attempted murder.

Strip To It: Core Moves and Fantasies Sexy Striptease (exotic dancing) (2008) Review

Strip To It: Core Moves and Fantasies Sexy Striptease (exotic dancing) (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Angi Carlston does a great job of clearly describing and demonstrating all the core striptease moves you'll ever need to put together a sexy dance routine. She then shows some transitional moves, combination moves, a few advanced moves, and a whole set of "specialty" moves that go along with the unique and fun dress-up fantasy "Performance Videos". Angi and her two students each pick one of the fantasy themes and do their own demonstration dance as well.
Other than a very short intro and tips section (which are separate selections from the menu), there are no interviews or other "filler" material. No fancy video editing tricks or slick graphic effects to distract from the instructional content either. It's a very straight forward and down to business presentation, with multiple camera angles, and very good sound quality (shot at a professional sound studio). This one is much more organized and more "produced" than the previous Strip To It - Bump n' Grind DVD, which is more informal and done in a typical home environment.
The "Performance Videos" are a very cool idea and a lot of fun! They are NOT videos of women doing striptease routines, as you might tend to believe from the description. Rather, the Performance Videos are videos designed for you to use while performing your own routine. There are ten different dress-up fantasy soundtrack themes, with a Performance Video for each. These themes are: School Girl, Naughty Nurse, Secret Agent, Ninja Seductress, Cowgirl, Firefighter, Cheerleader, Racing, East Meets West, and Cop / Bad Boy. The soundtrack for each theme is presented in both 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, as well as regular Stereo. The video track for each theme has simple graphic patterns that are synchronized to the music and are meant to be used as sexy back lighting for your dance. The idea is to try to recreate a club experience at home with the surround sound music and sexy colored lighting. If you don't like the soundtrack music provided, you can also turn off the audio and play your own favorite music, and there are several "video only" backgrounds as well, including a couple of stroboscopic type videos, as well as multiple background "slides" that can be changed in real time with your remote. You can give your man the remote and let him control the video lighting effects in real time while you dance! It's a lot of fun!
Finally, if you don't have a nice home theater area to play the Performance Videos on a DVD player and dance at the same time, there are full MP3 versions of all the songs on the DVD-ROM section that you can use to burn onto a CD or copy onto your portable music device, so you can use the music anywhere you want to dance. The DVD-ROM section also has a section of helpful hints and instructions on how to use the Performance Videos, as well as some behind the scenes photos, and credits.
Great value for the money. Just the instructional content alone is worth the price of the DVD, but the fun Performance Videos and soundtrack, and the free MP3 files, definitely make it a great total value.
As always, don't base your purchasing decisions on reviews. Visit the company web site for previews of the videos and music so that you know what you are getting ahead of time.

lovedddddddd it! It was an incredibly well done video and the most important thing, the instruction, was also the best thing about it. The video is set up like this: there are about 25 moves in total, including transition moves. Each move starts out with the dancers demonstrating the move first, lasting about thirty seconds or so. Then the lead begins with a very detailed explanation where she breaks everything down, body part by body part. Her pointers were extremely effective and she's great at anticipating what you would be struggling with. Each move is about 5 minutes long and Nicole shows you the move from the front as well as the back. The camera angles were very professional and the close-ups were definitely useful. Oh did I mention they were wearing heels? Yes, these hot dance moves are possible in four inch heels! Finally, each section is wrapped up by the girls showing you the move full speed one last time and giving you last minute pointers. You may have to rewind some of the more difficult moves several times, but it's almost scary to see yourself improve. I started seeing changes almost immediately after I bought the video and my moves became smoother in no time.

An AWESOME concert! Sade is beautiful and commands the viewer to watch every move she makes. Now I know why the audience on the live CD sounds like they're going crazy. TAKE A LOOK!
There are wonderful DVD exclusives.
-Backstage footage, a music video type documentary cut to a remix of "By Your Side". It's a real nice thing to see the band have unity & love beyond the stage.
-Message to Sade, a real hilarious look at Sade fans directed by the Polish Brothers. Sade should come out more often. These people are NUTS! It's a great piece to have on a DVD because it shows how Sade affects her fans & how sincere her fans are.
-B&W photographs, I wish there were more! They should have made a music video with these stills.
-King of Sorrow Video, sexy-sexy-sexy. The best Sade video from Sophie Muller. This alone is worth the DVD.
SADE LOVERS LIVE is a truly a wonderful DVD, Sade embraces her fans and delivers a concert of honesty and respect.

Bitch Slap (Unrated) (2009) Review

Bitch Slap (Unrated) (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Oh yes, "Bitch Slap" is everything you think it is. Girls. Guns. Catfights. Explosions. Lesbian romances. A story of bad guys, booty, alliances, betrayals, and secrets. It's being billed as, "a post-modern, thinking man's throwback to the B movie/exploitation films of the 1950s - 70s," but the truth is it gives us little to think about, and I'm hard pressed to say that it reexamines modern assumptions of culture, identity, and language. It does, however, open with a Joseph Conrad quote: "The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness." We see the word "men" and automatically think it's a blatant anti-male message. But by the end of the film, it's made abundantly clear that women are just capable of being wicked. Equality through evil. Funny.
This movie is irredeemably enjoyable, preposterous in both its story and its characters yet magnetic as a satire disguised as a schlocky male fantasy. It tells the story of three bad girls, all smoking hot, who find themselves in a plot to extort diamonds and weapons from an underworld kingpin, whose identity is a secret. The redhead is Hel, presumably short for Helen (Erin Cummings); she seems to be the leader of the group, tough but levelheaded, able to see the big picture and plan accordingly. The blonde is Camero (America Olivo), an oversexed hothead who's on medication. She's one of those people that hates everyone and is mad about everything, and has the dialogue to prove it. The brunette is a stripper named Trixie (Julia Voth), always upset, always overwhelmed, always wanting to play by the rules.
Every opportunity is taken to flaunt their feminine assets, and boy, do they have them - a basic shot is a slow-motion close-up of heaving breasts and deep cleavage, although some time is set aside for bare legs. There's never a moment when they aren't wearing high heels or don't have makeup painted on their faces. And then there are times when they pause to do a little manual labor, such as digging in the middle of the desert. My, but it's burning hot, and ... is that a bucket of water sitting there? Maybe they should splash each other playfully in order to stay cool. Things will heat back up later on, when Trixie and Hel discover that their feelings for one another are deeper than they first imagined. That's about when the situation goes completely out of control. Loyalties change. Identities are revealed. People get shot. Things blow up. And did I mention the catfights?
Intertwined with this is a ridiculous but somehow appropriate subplot about a notorious criminal known only as Pinky, never dealt with directly and never seen but fabled to be the most dangerous criminal mastermind who ever lived. When Trixie innocently brings up the subject, Hel and Camero speak in the same tones as someone telling a ghost story around a campfire. "Many believe Pinky's a phantom," says Camero. "Others think he sold his soul to the devil. I think he IS the devil." Maybe so; a flashback sequence shows a silhouetted figure going nuts with what appear to be samurai swords, used to decapitate people left and right. Do we ever discover what Pinky looks like? With such gorgeous women displayed on the big screen, can you honestly say that you care?
When this movie is not going out of its way to be sexy, then it's being incredibly goofy. Take Olivo, for example; the angrier she gets, the funnier she becomes, not only because she spews unbelievably inane profanity, but also because her character is the most aggressive. And just wait until you hear of her tryst with a sideshow contortionist. Let's also consider the director, Rick Jacobson; he's currently at work on the new "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" television series and has been involved with "She Spies," "Cleopatra 2525," "Batwatch," "La Femme Nikita," "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," and "Xena: Warrior Princess." The last two are noteworthy because Kevin Sorbo, Lucy Lawless, and Renée O'Connor all have cameos in "Bitch Slap." Or maybe they aren't noteworthy at all. Whatever.
This movie is, essentially, a cross between an erotic photo shoot and a silly crime caper, one that has been fed into a low-tech special effects mill. And I suppose that's why I had fun watching it. While I ultimately have no good reason for recommending it, you have to admit, there is something infectious about a movie that actively tries to be bad. I'm reminded of an often repeated Pauline Kael quote: "Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash, we have very little reason to be interested in them." "Bitch Slap" is, indeed, great trash, projected up on the screen in all its violent, foulmouthed, double-D glory. Fellas, this is your lucky day.

A modern throwback to the "B" movie exploitation films of the 50's-70's, mixing beautiful women, fast cars, big guns, nasty tongues, outrageous action, and jaw-dropping eye candy. The movie follows three bad girls, a down-and-out stripper, a drug running killer, and a corporate power broker as they arrive at a remote desert hideaway to extort massive booty from an underworld kingpin.

The L Word - The Complete Third Season (2004) Review

The L Word - The Complete Third Season (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This show, including this season, is one that is groundbreaking and representative of many people who have not before been given representation. The focus is first and formost about women and the lives of women. There is love, loss, drama, and all that goes in between. It makes you laugh at times and cry at others, but life is not a fairytale and this show doesn't make it to be... that is what makes it so great. There a femmes and butches, a ton who are somewhere in the middle. It makes you reconsider the labels you place on people and realize there are all shades of gray. Whether you are a stay at home parent, trying to become a parent, happy in love, breaking up, sleeping around, or transitioning... from bed to bed or from female to male, you can see yourself in this show.
Some have been critical of Ilene Chaiken (not Irene as the misguided poster at top called her) claiming that the show isn't realisitc or that the writing is bad. We should remember that this show is about a group of lesbians, not all the lesbians in the world. It could be people we know but it might not be. To claim a show unrealistic because it isn't a story of your own life is to also say that every representation of every woman is only real if that woman goes through what you go through, that every reprentation of whatever race you are is only real if that person goes through what you go through, and given the wide variety of diversity in programming any reasonable person knows that to be untrue. So, no The L Word doesn't represent every lesbian on the planet but it does give a good account for a select group of us out there, it does venture to bring visibility to those of us who went unseen before, it gives us a voice, and it shows people that lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgered people love and hurt and face things in our life good and bad just like everyone else.
There is no other show out there that has done for lesbians what The L Word has. Seasoned actresses like Jennifer Beals and Pam Grier bring the show up a few levels, Jennifer Beals and Laurel Holloman have chemistry that is palpable... even when their characters are fighting they have tremendous chemistry. Rachel Shelley, Katherine Moening, Alexandra Hedison all have sex appeal through the roof in their representation of single lesbians on the show. Leisha does comedy like no one's business and she also had some amazing dramatic scenes. Erin Daniels was wickedly funny as well and broke our hearts with the huge part her character had in season 3. Daniella Sea is a new comer and she still has great strides to take. I wouldn't dare say she was the star as that would be a huge over-statment... she was far from it, but her character was like nothing we've ever seen before. Daniella took on her role like a champ and I was very excited to see her added to the cast, she is bringing visibility to an entire other part of the audience that had yet to be shown and in time I think she will be as comfortable as the other actresses. I certainly look foward to more from Max.
Also, despite what the initial reviewer had to say, I don't think there is any grounds for statements suggesting Ilene degraded, down played, or disrespected Danielle, the actress, or her character Moira/Max. If an actress is cast after promotions start then you cannot expect them to appear in all the promotional photos. Although Daniella wasn't in all the season 3 promotional photos she was in some of them, she is in those for Season 4 and she also did a great deal of in person promotions with Ilene to promote season 3. If Ilene wanted to down play and degrade Daniella she would not have made her the main guest star for most of the promotional events, she also would not have been so super secretive and hyped about Daniella's character on the show. There would be no transgendered character, or any butch type characters, or any kind of character we are fortunate to have on the show if Ilene was as horrible as this reviewer has made her out to be. Max and The L Word at large exists because of Ilene not in spite of her.
The one criticsim I have with the dvd itself and not the show... the dvd extras were lacking in any kind of special or additional footage that many fans like to see. There are no bloopers, no special interviews, nothing truly exciting to look foward to.
This is a great show. I definitely recommend it as a buy!!!

Cruel Intentions 2 (2001) Review

Cruel Intentions 2 (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Now, I liked the first CRUEL INTENTIONS starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (it was entertaining in a sick, twisted kind of way, and the production values were great), but I didn't even know they made a sequel until I saw this on cable! Well, after watching it, now I know why I've heard nothing about it. This was apparently supposed to be a television series called "Manchester Prep", but it's clear why it was rejected -- the subject matter is just too risque. There's more gratuitous nudity and sexual innuendo in Cruel Intentions 2 than in the original film.
This movie stunk worse than a New York subway car in August without any air conditioning. You thought the lesbian kiss scene in the first movie was a little over the top? Man, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Cruel Intentions 2 is really nothing but a soft-porn B-movie. The first movie was a "modern retelling" of the "classic" story Dangerous Liaisons. Cruel Intentions 2 is a "prequel" that leaves almost no taboo unexplored. Since this is a "family" site, I will not go into any graphic detail here. Suffice it to say that virgin eyes should not behold what transpires in this movie (Scenes like an innocent freshman girl getting aroused while learning to ride a horse, twins in a shower, Valmont's stepmother giving him a massage...you get the idea).
Anyway, consider this a public service announcement: beware if you turn on your tv and are flipping through the cable channels and you come across a little movie called CRUEL INTENTIONS 2. Or if you see this on your videostore shelf. Or if you were thinking of buying this film. The production values and the acting and the story are nowhere near as good as the original. You might find some of the nudity and erotic content enjoyable if you're looking for that sort of thing... ...You have been warned.

The Queen's Sister (2006) Review

The Queen's Sister (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"The Queen's Sister," which had it's American debut on BBC America, tells the story of Princess Margaret. It's a fascinating, yet somewhat uneven, portrait of a royal we don't hear much about anymore. Marginalized by circumstance, she never really had a significant role to play within the framework of the Royal family. So by boredom, rebellion and/or greedy indifference--she began an unconventional lifestyle (for a Royal anyway) revolving around men and partying. Becoming a social celebrity of sorts, she sought acceptance anyway that she could get it and an acknowledgment of her status.
"The Queen's Sister" is at it's most effective when dealing with Margaret's internal struggles. Far from being a standard biopic, it is more of a psychological profile. And when depicting Margaret's search for purpose and worth, it has some nicely poignant moments. Even though she comes across unflatteringly on many occasions, there are times when we clearly see the girl beneath the title. The tone of the film, though, seesaws rather precariously between ribald comedy and quiet despair. This shifting focus does lessen the overall impact of the film, but it's never uninteresting.
The production benefits with a tremendous, vital performance by Lucy Cohu. Spanning 20 years of Margaret's life, it's a showy and robust showcase for Cohu's acting chops. The film is well presented and well done from a technical standpoint. I'm not so convinced that historical accuracy, however, was a top priority to the filmmakers. Nevertheless, I recommend the film to those interested in the Royals--it's a different perspective. And I give a big thumbs up to Cohu who holds everything together with a masterful and complicated performance. KGHarris, 11/06.

Devil's Diary (2007) Review

Devil's Diary (2007)
Average Reviews:

I feel the need to see all Alexz Johnson movies - she's one of my favorite actresses.
This one was a bit off in places - I found it amusing that the "popular" crowd was stereotypically cheerleaders and jocks again, but even funnier were the awkward nun-like cheerleader uniforms.
Alexz's character was by far the most likable because she is who she is and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Her best friend is different and takes criticism from other students that have clear faults themselves, very hard. Not that anyone would blame her. She finds a diary in the cemeary and starts writing...soon after, the things she writes that she wished would happen DO happen. And it IS funny. Then the "popular girls" eavesdrop and find out what she's doing as Dominique (Alexz) gets worried about the journal making her friend dark and evil little by little. The journal gets stolen and carnage ensues as it travels to more ambitious aka more evil hands.
The ending "six weeks later" is a little strange and doesn't explain alot - there were others that saw what happened and knew about the book, but it seems Dom is on her own.
I wouldn't mind a sequel starring Alexz again, but it's probably not likely...
Some of the things that happen are a little - disturbing and extreme for a "Lifetime" movie, and pranks escalate to gruesome death pretty fast. Not recommended for kids.

Dirt: The Complete First Season (2007) Review

Dirt: The Complete First Season (2007)
Average Reviews:

Do people realize how bitingly smart this show is? I don't think they do, judging by the disparaging comments on how gratuitous, lurid, and tasteless the show is. Guess what? It's a show about sensationalist TABLOIDISM. And the show IS funny: all sharp, bleeding wit--and Lucy Spiller's first instinct is to tear into the first hint of blood in the water.
But what's more amazing is to watch Courtney Cox as the Devil working the room, spinning her wheels and making deals, and then seeing her as the minions and pawns fade away and she's left alone, doubting. Human.
I think that's what this show at its core is about--showing what's human behind the celeb, the humanity behind the monstrous tabloid business, all that seems to be only plastic and spit-shined glamor, deceit and manipulation. The heart of the show lies in Lucy and Don's genuine friendship. Don truly is the "heart and voice" of the show, because it's through him that the show (daringly, honestly, unflinchingly) questions its actions: Why the hell is everyone acting so horribly to each other?
The answer: Because you want them to.
Dirt makes a statement and makes it profoundly--and not by beating you in the head with a soapbox. The show opens up into the hyper-real world that crystallizes the concept of What People Want, this current market of consumers' crushing need for entertainment that deals exclusively in sex, shame, blood, violence, and betrayal: "Who's the fugliest?" "Who's the sluttiest"? "When is that good-girl celeb going to give us a REAL show?" The weekly tabloids, but more than that--this obsession that controls every single aspect of media...and what gives Lucy Spiller, editor of one such "rag" such as Dirt so much *power* in the industry.
Do you hate what you see on-screen when you watch Dirt? Look around. If there's a magazine featuring TomKat's tortured wedded life on your desk, in your hands, hell--if you even know what I'm talking about--you're a part of it. Is there anyone who *isn't*?
This show explores all that. Again, daringly, unflinchingly--and beautifully, with heart. At no point does the show fail to realize just how horrible and desipicable and circus-like this preoccupation is, and I loved just how self-*aware* but not self-*conscious* this show was. It was just so elegantly put together and filled with an idealistic spirit--as unlikely as that may sound to some.
You can't watch Dirt thinking it's just "trashy fun." You won't get it. You won't get nearly what it's worth out of it.
But if you THINK while watching the beautiful art direction, acting, music, setting, plot, character development--it's definitely worth it. And above all, Dirt is honestly engaging and FUN to watch. And PRETTY. Don't let my long-winded review stop you from just enjoying it!

Bollywood Hero (2009) Review

Bollywood Hero (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Haven't done a Bollywood review in a while and after this one, I still won't have. BOLLYWOOD HERO is about as legit a Bollywood flick as Chris Kattan makes dashing leading man material. And that's the core conceit of this three-part television mini-series, really. Chris Kattan as the romantic lead? Who would've thunk it? At first glance (and second and third), the guy doesn't have the looks or height or charisma to pull it off. Dude has the sex appeal of icky and he's about as polished as a salty longshoreman with pit stains.
Chris Kattan, the most hated man in India? How did that come about? Chris Kattan, in one of those meta-fiction moments, plays Chris Kattan and the thing starts with what may be a close approximation of his life and career in real. Chris has had enough of languishing at the bottom, playing his silly parts (his latest opus has him playing an alien called "Klaptar"). He yearns for the leading role, yet realizes he'll never get a whiff in Hollywood. He runs into fledgling director Monty Kapoor (Ali Fazal) who offers him the lead role in a Bollywod movie titled Peculiar Dancing Boy. Chris snaps it up.
But Mumbai, India isn't kind to Mango, culture shock being a mothereffer. Hapless and bumbling, forced out of his comfort zone (if that's what you call getting kicked around in Hollywood), Kattan takes on this endearing underdog quality. It turns out that when refraining from mugging so much in front of the camera, dude becomes quite likable. And I think that this toning down results in better comedy. And we've all been there before, with committing some social gaffe. In Chris's case, it's a grossly inappropriate public display of affection which makes Chris persona non grata in the eyes of India, and this jeopardizes Peculiar Dancing Boy. Can Chris Kattan, stranger in a strange land, rally the fractured cast and crew? Can he turn himself into a respectable dancer? Because in Bollywood, song & dance productions are a big deal. Can he be the romantic lead in real life and win the level-headed but suspicious movie producer Priya (Pooja Kumar)? Answers: Yes, no, maybe.
BOLLYWOOD HERO was broadcast on the IFC network on August 2009 and I caught up with it in its weekend re-airings, liked it enough to tune in on three separate Sundays. This is a send up of Hollywood and Bollywood, although the actors do make you care about the story. I'm a big fan of Bollywood, so I got all the digs. People not familiar with Indian cinema and its sensibilities may be a bit at sea with some of the bits. Chris Kattan not being able to dance - or dance well - is a bigger deal than you might expect. Bollywood supporters who aren't into westernized versions of Bollywood may also turn up their noses at this. So be it. This isn't to everyone's taste.
The ladies of India, exotic and gorgeous, and I'll try to restrain myself from bringing up Aishwarya Rai, surely the most beautiful woman on the planet. Ash isn't in this one, but we do get lovelies like Pooja Kumar, Rachna Shah, and the stunning Neha Dhupia. Several of Kattan's SNL pals pop in, as well as a hysterical, self-mocking cameo by Keanu Reeves and a co-starring turn by Julian Sands who, oddly, doesn't play himself (every other western actor plays him/herself). Chris Kattan is surprisingly good in the lead and is believable in the romantic scenes (he and Pooja Kumar have nice chemistry). Again, I think it's key that Kattan tempers his usual over-the-top antics (although, okay, a bit of foolish trickles out). This may be the only crack dude gets playing the leading man, and he makes the most of it.
There are several song & dance numbers here, and they're... okay. But don't kid yourself that the musical production is as lavish as what you'd see in your average Indian cinema. But I dig that the film borrows the very catchy "Dhoom Taana" song from Om Shanti Om.
It's a spoof and sometimes it gets really silly, and yet there's a solidity at the core of BOLLYWOOD HERO. There's even a bit of that same message from SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS thrown in. A recurring annoyance when I saw this mini-series on the IFC channel - and, holy Sharukh Khan, I hope they don't make it in the DVD as a bonus feature - are those commercials of Kattan shilling for the Palm Pre smartphone. I got fed up with all that "AllaKattan!" nonsense (it's what Kattan yelled whenever he used his "magic" smartphone). There's silly, and then there's just inane.
Surprisingly, BOLLYWOOD HERO deserves a rating of 3.5 stars out of five. And this is in huge part because of Chris Kattan's performance, not in spite of it. I'll also mention that the third act doesn't really live up to what the first two episodes had built up to. But if it inspires you enough to give Bollywood a try, then it's done its job. If it inspires you to give Kattan's other films a try, well, that's just flirting with disappointment.

Chris Kattan is fed-up with not being taken seriously by Hollywood, so he accepts an offer to star in a big- time Mumbai production called \'Peculiar Dancing Boy\'. But before he can conquer India, Chris will have to survive a whole new land of culture clashes, jealous rivals, runaway egos, power hungry starlets and extreme dancing lessons. How far does an actor have to go in this world to fight the bad guys, get the beautiful women and finally play the hero? Maya Rudolph, Julian Sands, Pooja Kumar, Rachna Shah, Ali Fazal and Neha Dhupia co-star in this IFC musical comedy miniseries event – featuring key members of the Oscar® winning production team from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE – with guest appearances by Jennifer Coolidge, David Alan Grier and Keanu Reeves.

Cathouse: The Series (2008) Review

Cathouse: The Series (2008)

This is the best reality show ever made, in my opinion. It is a truly fascinating show. Be warned- this is as graphic as it gets on cable TV. This show is the graphic account of a brothel, showing every step from admission to orgasm with the girl and the john. It's kind of like a legit version of 'Hookers on the Point', another great HBO show.
The characters are very engrossing, and each episode moves along at a quick pace with a distinct theme/topic. They interview enough people and cut it down so each episode has very little down time.
If you're even mildly interested in this, I recommend it. It's a really interesting story about a guy (Dennis Hoff, the owner/manager) and his business. For all the other things going on, he is a business man, and a very good one.5 of 5 stars
