(More customer reviews)I first watched this movie while working as a Behavioral Health worker with borderline criminial Adolecents age 12-17. A fellow co-worker brought the film in as a suprise "treat movie" for the kids.
In all my years (there have been many) I have never seen a reaction to a film from this population in all my life. The story of the team and Mr. Bryant and how it wa portrayed in this film made the kids begin to think of their own lives , and how they could do better for people.
It was a strange reaction to this film, but it truly moved them and myself.
As far as the film itself goes Berringer is great as is the support cast and the studio did an excellent job. I have heard the book is even better.

Adventures from the Book of Virtues The Box Set (2008) Review

(More customer reviews)These are amazing stories that help reinforce values that are positive for our children to learn. I was disappointed though that there were only 8 virtues in the boxed set. I had taped the series on PBS long ago and I can safely say that there are over 20 different virtues presented in the series and I was expecting the set. That said, I would highly recommend this boxed set as a great starter set and look for further releases on DVD.

Faith Hill - When the Lights Go Down (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)This dvd is chopped up by interrupting several of the performances. This behind the scenes footage is ok between songs, but literally intrudes into some of the songs. Would have
been much better if the performances were uninterrupted, and you could access directly to the start of each song. The behind
the scenes stuff is ok the first time you watch, but after that you are still forced to watch it. Someone made a big mistake with this idea. If they wanted to include the behind the scenes stuff, it should have been added at the end as "bonus footage".
However, when you get Faith Hill singing, it is great.

Gentle Ben 2 (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)This movie surprized me being it was on a DVD by Good Times...usually they are not that clear and sometimes hard to understand but this is a shining example of how well they can do if they want...this DVD was super clear and the audio was super too. The only thing I wish is that for us harder of hearing folks that they would put the CC on the disc too.The movie it self is very good and I enjoyed the show alot. The acting was good and the story line was also very interesting as well. The animal actors did such a great job and as I said before the clarity of the DVD makes the scenery come alive in Alaska. I am glad I picked this one up and if you have kids there is also some good messages on convervation in it. I would buy it again now if I knew what I know now. At this price you owe it to yourself to pick up this disc, why not get extra copies for gifts too...LOL I hope "Gentle Ben" which I also purchased is just as good..well done Good Times...

Charms for the Easy Life (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)This film surprised me in a lot of ways. The title makes it sound "fluffy" but there's a lot of punch in the story.
It's about 3 strong-willed women as they live their lives and interact with each other and the world around them. The grandmother, Charlie Kate (Gena Rowlands) is the pivot of the story. She's tough but not uncaring. She knows who she is and what she wants from life. Her daughter, Sophia (Mimi Rogers), is also strong but in a different way. Margaret (Susan May Pratt) is the granddaughter, who blends the best of her grandmother and mother.
There's a lot of humor in the film and a fair amount of pathos as well but it's neither a comedy nor depressing. There is a lot to admire in all 3 women and how they respond to each other and live their lives.

It really blew me away I was so WoWed by his Talks I have now seen all 4 and own them several times over because I have given away several of them and purchased like 20 or more for other people at Church and Campmeeting last year 2008 my personal favorite is How Great is our God! I wish everone could see this and just realize how Big our God is and how really Small we reall are. The Lord God wants us to know him and to really get to know him you have to have an experence of True Genuine Salvation. Louie tries to wow you to get you to look beyond your little problems and see that there is a God outthere that although he's bigger that anyone can even imagine yet he's small enough to live inside your heart. To have a Passion for Christ you must see his passion to realize how much God loves you he sent his only begotten Son Jesus to die on a cruel Cross the Cross of Calvary to purchase our redemption so you and I could really be Free So if the Son therefore shall make you FREE you shall be Free indeed! Not free to do what ever you want to do but to be free to live for God and give him the Glory honor the praise that he alone diserves he is worthy. Worthy is the lamb that was slain! Worthy is our God of all our praise! Thank you Jesus

Love's Unending Legacy (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)I have watched all of the movies since the very first one, Love Comes Softly, and fell in love with the series so much so that I bought the books to read and couldn't wait for this movie. I was very disappointed with this particular installment. This was so far away from the book that I didn't recognize it when I watched it. Other than the observations already noted (Belinda as Missie's daughter not sister, etc.), it also seems to have lost her brothers and their adopted son, Jeff. If there was only about 4 years difference between this movie and the last one, then her brothers would not have been old enough to be out on their own, yet there was no mention that they even exist. However, I am glad that they are able to keep Dale Midkiff as Clark, but think they could find a better substitute for Katherine Heigl as Marty. To kill off Willie just to give Missy a new love interest was a travesty. I gave it two stars and hope if they make the last books, they follow the books as best they can (outside of resurrecting Willie via a dream sequence).

Joan of Arcadia - The Second Season (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)I couldn't believe that CBS cancelled this wonderful show after only 2 seasons! It received a lot of attention and even won awards during its first season, but for whatever reason, was dismissed in its second season. The season/series finale had the show poised for a terrific third season, had the show continued, with Joan now battling her foe, a young man possibly working for Satan, just as she was "working" for God. What a shame that this gem was instead cancelled. Joan was one of the most realistic portrayals of a teenager on television, aside from the fact that she often talked to God, and Amber Tamblyn, her portrayer, is a stand-out. I also loved the portrayal of Joan's older brother, played by Jason Ritter, as a former high school jock who seemed to have everything going for him until a car accident left him in a wheel chair and all the implications this tragedy had for Joan's entire family. The concept of this show was very clever and although Joan talked to God, it never felt too religious or preachy. It was also extremely well-written and acted. This is a show that people of all ages can enjoy and that families can actually watch together. How rare is that nowadays?

This woman has an amazing story and testimony how God works in people lives, even when we are not looking for His direction. Sue was given some incredible opportunities that can not be attributed to chance, but only through the work of the Lord. She testifies to the strength that the Lord will bring when your life is in disarray because of physical limitations, in her case it was her deafness. There are times in the video when she has you laughing and then will also bring you to tears at the sensitivity with which she tells her story. It is a video that I will watch over and over when I think that I have difficutlies in my life. It is very inspiring.

The Nativity Story (2006) Review

(More customer reviews)You know the plot: After young Mary is betrothed to an older man, she is told by an angel that she will bear God's son. She could be stoned for this pregnancy, but Joseph has a dream explaining the situation, and he takes her as his wife. They must then make the difficult journey to Bethlehem for the census, and they arrive just in time for the baby's birth in a stable.
It is a lovely story, told quite simply and tastefully. The costumes and village sets are rough-hewn and authentic-looking in earth-tones. The international cast features Keisha Castle-Hughes as a straightforward and uncomplaining Mary, used to hard work and Roman tyranny. Oscar Isaac is a warm and protective Joseph. Shohreh Aghdashloo is wonderful as Mary's cousin Elizabeth; in fact, the entire cast is excellent.
The movie is suitable for all ages and I hope it becomes a tradition to show it on television every Christmas. It sticks to the Bible story and is happily lacking in Hollywood razzle-dazzle. The photography is beautiful and it is respectfully directed. Highly recommended.

Joan of Arcadia - The First Season (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)This was one of the finest television series on the air. The writing was superb, the characters were believable, and the storylines were to die for.
If you loved the Touched by an Angel series, you will enjoy this one.
The main character, a high school girl named Joan talks to God all day every day as she sorts through the pains of growing up. What I love about this show is that God appears as every single race, color, creed and religion - from a middle aged chess player to a Gothic punk rocker. Joan never knows what God will look like, but has blind faith God is always there.
I also love that she does not always appreciate the advice she is given and gets annoyed with God from time to time. I can relate to not liking the answer I get to my prayers. I don't always get what I ask for. But I always get what I need. Just like Joan.

Paula Ferguson runs into her old boyfriend at Christmas time. He's turned out to be a wealthy art dealer, living a life of luxury. At least that's the way it seems to the hard-working Paula, struggeling with debt, housework and family issues -- just like the rest of us. She makes a wish, and ends up transported into the alternate reality of her dreams. Of course, in the end, Paula would give just about anything to get back to her real world. But, this time, the wishing doesn't work!
Holiday Switch was very cleverly done, and is a step above lots of other Christmas movies about dreams being granted.
