Rubi was amazing on DVD. I have to admit I was a little iffy whether I should buy it because I have purchased other Novelas on DVD and didn't like them. I'm the first to admit, I was wrong. It has the whole show on it and it's not all chopped up either. It even has some extra footage and an alternative ending. I would strongly suggest this to any Rubi fan. The show was great and the DVD dosen't come far behind.

The Mighty Boosh is one of the most creative and fun shows ever made. The writing is hilarious and imaginative, the sets and costumes are delightful, and the songs are funny and catchy. It's truly original, and there just isn't anything else like it.
This is a nifty box set and a must have for fans of TMB. It contains all of the episodes from seasons 1-3 and hours of special features with a lot of good behind the scenes/making of stuff, deleted scenes, outtakes, and Sweet-- a short film written by James Pilkington that stars Julian and Noel. This set also includes art work and stickers. STICKERS! Enough said. Love them.

ZOOM - Back to the 70s (2008)

ZOOM: BACK TO THE 1970's is a 2 DVD set of some of the best moments of the show that ran from 1972 to 1978. This was a favorite show of mine as a kid, so I was interested in seeing it again.
What is on the DVD?
Disc One
BEST OF THE 1970's - Judging by the 1998 copyright, I believe this 35 minute compilation of the best moments is the same that was released on VHS. I haven't been able to compare the two, but that also ran the same amount of time, and the sketches seem to be familiar. One of the most popular moments from the series, the song "City Child" is there. Of most interest will be the complete opening and closing credits from all the six seasons of the show.
One MAJOR problem with this however, there are no chapter stops. You can't skip to a specific sketch. And if you want to see just the credit sequences? They are at the very end. You have to fastforward through everything.
Also on this DVD is a two minute collection of behind the scenes stills from the series, played over the theme song. Nothing you will want to see more than once.
In one of the strangest extras, there is a ten question or so quiz on the show, asking what a few of the cast members are doing today. Wouldn't this be better as just a plain text menu instead of a silly Q&A?
There are also some DVD-ROM extras that I didn't try out (one of wallpaper and an Ubbi-Dubbi explanation).
Disc Two
This disc contains 4 complete episodes of the show. It contains one episode from the first season, second season, third season, and the sixth and final season. Each runs 28 minutes so I would assume they are complete.
The DVD is worth picking up to remind you of the show. However, it could / should have been a lot better. With the addition of chapter stops and maybe more musical numbers (which is what I remembered most from the show) it could have been one of the DVDs of the year.

The L.A. Law reunion movie was very nice to see. The plot was a little lame and it would of been alot better if Jimmy Smits was in it. Maybe with this release they will do what other studios have done and release the series on dvd in boxed sets.

The Best of Johnny Carson and Friends (2008) Review

The Best of Johnny Carson and Friends (2008)

Before he became the king of late-nite TV, Johnny Carson hosted a self-named summer replacement series. Ten examples of that half-hour program are here, as well as samples of Johnny's quiz show, his morning program and the very early (1953) "Carson's Cellar."
NOTABLES--
"The Johnny Carson Show" aired Thursday nights at 8:30 on CBS from 6/30/55 to 3/1/56. The quiz show, "Who Do You Trust?" ran on ABC-TV from 1957 to '63; based on his performance here, Johnny was hired by NBC to replace Jack Paar on "The Tonight Show."
"Bobby Darin and Friends" was a pilot for a variety series the network rejected. It was written by Bud Yorkin and Norman Lear ("All in the Family").
"Shower of Stars" aired once a month on CBS-TV. The most frequent host was Jack Benny.
"The Milton Berle Show" was the Berle variety series that came after "The Texaco Star Theater."
"The Colgate Comedy Hour" had a long run (with rotating hosts) on NBC-TV in the 1950s.For more vintage TV programming, try the 150 episodes on MILL CREEK's ESSENTIAL FAMILY TELEVISION.CONTENTS of "Best of Johnny Carson and Friends":

I love Betty White and this is early TV. So the pace now seems a little slow, maybe jokes a little corny, but still funny. She is a gem.
