Grounded for Life: Season 3 (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In the third season, Grounded For Life found itself going from Fox to the WB. It was a messed up season in that 3 episodes aired on Fox and 8 on the WB. But this 2 DVD set will contain 13 episodes. So you'll get to see 2 episodes that never aired on either network.
There will also be commentary tracks on 6 of the episodes so we'll get the inside tales of what went on during the season the show jumped networks. Lily and Sister Helen will be speaking.
Even though ABC Family Channel reruns the show, I enjoy them better on DVD - especially since I don't have to watch 10 minutes of ads to get through each episode. It's a shame that Sundance or IFC doesn't rerun the show because Donal and Kevin make this an Indie Film Sitcom.

Sealab 2021 - Season 1 (2000) Review

Sealab 2021 - Season 1 (2000)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you stay awake long enough to catch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network Sunday nights (starts around 10:30 p.m. CST, my old time zone- now I'm on the east coast, and everything starts an hour later), check out "Sealab 2021". It's a spoof off the old 1972 cartoon "Sealab 2020", except that the original '72 crew has been replaced by a bunch of lunatics who probably shouldn't be allowed out of doors. Perhaps that's why they've been confined to an underwater lab where they can't hurt anybody (well, almost anybody). We loyal fans have long awaited Adult Swim gems to come on DVD, and with "Sealab 2021", you get the following eppys:
*I, ROBOT- News of a monkey whose brain has been implanted in a robot prompts the crew to have a long-winded "discussion" about the fate of their own brains.
*HAPPYCAKE- Captain Murphy is devestated to find his beloved Happy Cake Oven is missing, and orders the crew, along with a Jacques Cousteau-like narrator, to search the waters for it. Meanwhile, a giant squid endangers the life of the crew; or as the narrator sees it, "uses it's tentacles to cradle me like a Mother's arms".
*RADIO FREE SEALAB- Captain Murphy is bored and decides to use the lab's emergency radio beacon for a pirate radio station, starring as "Howling Mad" Murphy.
*CHICKMATE- Debbie questions the male crewmembers to see who will make the best Father for the baby she wants immediately, and Stormy almost learns a valuable lesson in race relations.
*LOST IN TIME- Bizarre episode in which Stormy and Dr. Quinn are mysteriously transported 15 minutes back in time to save Sealab from an explosion- even though the same explosion happens again, starting the vicious cycle all over again.
*PREDATOR- There's an invisible yet shimmery ghoul aboard Sealab that has the crew cowering in the corners. It's up to Dr. Quinn (with Dolphin Boy as bait) to capture the fiend.
*LITTLE ORPHAN ANGRY- Griffin, a terminally ill orphan, comes aboard Sealab to live out his dream. But Griffin's heart is not as pure as everyone thinks. Meanwhile, Capt. Murphy morphs into a germ-a-phobe freak as he fears a Bubonic Plague outbreak.
*WAKING QUINN- The eppy is a bit hard to follow- Stormy wants to show Dr. Quinn his new hairdryer while Quinn is in the water- yes, Dr. Quinn is electrocuted and bizarre happenings are afoot.
*ALL THAT JAZZ- In one of the funniest episodes, Capt. Murphy gets trapped underneath the BeBop Cola machine. Unfortunately for him, everyone else is at a concert. A year transpires before he is found, and in that time he loses all his teeth and becomes addicted to scorpion venom.
*MURPHY MURPH AND THE FENG SHUI BUNCH- This is my all-time fave eppy. Capt. Muprhy is dissatisfied with the disharmoy of the Sealab decor. He hires an extortionate Feng Shui "master" to redecorate everything- but "Master Loo" is a con artist who convinces the crew to buy his crap oragami and persuades Murphy to spend $50,000 on a solid gold toilet. Ofcourse, only Dr. Quinn sees through him.
*IN THE CLOSET- Capt. Murphy gets everyone stlocked in a closet, and tempers begin to flare.
*STIMUTACS- The ver witty Sparks has come up with a new drug that everyone wants, but the side effects are grotesque- and additctive.
*SWIMMING IN OBLIVION- A compliation of past episodes dominates this season finaale, including the informercials for the "Debbie Gone Wild!" DVD's.
Some of Sealab's best episodes were in it's first season, and thankfully they're all here.

It is the year 2021. In this mind-bogglingly distant future, Sealab rises imperiously from the ocean's floor, her crew charged with exploring the possibility of underwater colonization. That is, when they're not fighting giant squids over a toy oven.* Or running pirate radio stations. Or trying to put their brains into robot bodies. Or going back in time. Or being attacked by flesh-ripping aliens. Or becoming addicted to scorpion venom. Or getting stuck in a storage closet. Or going back in time again. Captain Murphy. Marco. Debbie. Stormy. Doctor Quinn. Dolphin Boy. They're all inside this box, screaming to get out so they can live inside your television. So buy the damn thing and set them free. You'll beridiculously glad you did. While some may say that this season lacked, I disagree strongly. This was a great show, and was pulled off because of going over the edge, which I love. Better that it ended being hilarious and extreme, than getting dull and lifeless.

This half-hour comedy chronicles the hilarious world of Christopher Titus and his totally messed-up poor white trash family. Between his drunken father, his dimwitted brother, and his goody-goody best friend, it's amazing Titus is alive, let alone engaged to a "normal" girl.

The Office: Seasons One and Two (2005) Review

The Office: Seasons One and Two (2005)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Remaking movies is bad enough, but remaking TV shows is even worse -- when that happens, there's ninety-nine atrocious shows for one good one.
But "The Office" is that one in a hundred that's good. Scratch that -- it's that one in a million that is AS GOOD as the Ricky Gervais series it sprang from, while still having its own unique flavour. "The Office: Seasons One & Two" brings together the first half-season and the full second season, which are full of outrageous corporate disasters filmed in a mockumentary style. It's absolutely sidesplitting.
The action takes place at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin (a paper corporation), presided over by Michael Scott (Steve Carell), a wannabe comic who claims to be a pal to all the people under him, despite driving them all up the wall. There's also the "fascist nerd" Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), bored everyman Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), and the beautiful secretary Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), whom Jim hopelessly longs for.
In the first season, Michael is ordered to do some downsizing, which he spends the whole season trying to avoid. In the meantime, Jim and Pam spend a great deal of time mocking the rigid Dwight, even starting an "alliance" with him, Survivor-style. And the Scranton employees are faced with a disastrous basketball game, Michael's version of a diversity seminar, a sexy purse salesgirl, and (most horribly) a Dwight-planned health care package.
The downsizing problem continues well into the second season, where the Scranton employees are faced with more "typical" corporate problems -- workplace awards (the "Dundies"), sexual harassment, a workplace fire, email spying, Secret Santa, drug testing ("Do you want to give Michael your urine?"), a house party Michael isn't invited to, sales conventions, and "Take Your Daughter To Work" Day that ends in a disaster.
Of course, all these are given a more bizarre twist by Michael's constant attempts to make the office a "fun" place (stealing Christmas gifts!!), and Dwight's equally peculiar antics (a public speech using lines from Hitler and Mussolini... courtesy of Jim). In the meantime, Jim's feelings for Pam get more cumbersome as her engagement slowly creeps toward marriage with the loutish Roy, and Michael enters a sort-of-relationship with his exasperated boss Jan.
Don't expect a typical sitcom in "The Office." No laughtracks. No punch lines. No gag humor... well, okay there's some. And no episode has a clear-cut ending. Instead, we have the format seen in "This is Spinal Tap" and the Christopher Guest mockumentaries -- hidden cameras watching the madness. And what those cameras see is enough to make the world's cubicle-dwellers cry, because it's all so familiar... yet so twisted.
The first season (which is rather short at only six episodes) is also heavily flavoured with the British series' humour, right down to the stapler-in-Jell-O joke. But most of the humor belongs to this show alone -- loads of pranks from Jim and Pam ("That's spontaneous dental hydroplosion"), horrendously awkward problems (Dwight trying to find drugs in the office) and intertwined storylines about office romance and conflict.
But the best part is the dialogue -- deadpan, unspeakably funny dialogue, on any topic ("I need a username, and... I have a great one. 'Little Kid Lover.' That way people will know exactly where my priorities are at").
Steve Carell has some big shoes to fill, but his earnestly manic, unconsciously offensive Michael Scott makes a brilliant boss that you would sell a kidney to avoid working under. Wilson is equally brilliant as the totally bizarre dork Dwight ("Last year I came to work with my spud-gun in a duffle bag"), while Krasinski and Fischer are quite likable as the mischievous everyman and his soul-mate (who is unhappily engaged to another man).
More subtle and yet goofier than just about any other American sitcom, "The Office" translates British humour into a great post-mockumentary comedy. Funny, witty, and horrifyingly true to life, the first two seasons are a treasure.

Steve Carell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Daily Show) stars in The Office, a fresh and funny mockumentary-style glimpse into the daily interactions of the eccentric workers at the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company. Based on the smash-hit British series of the same name and adapted for American Television by Greg Daniels (King of the Hill, The Simpsons), this fast-paced comedy parodies contemporary American water-cooler culture. Earnest but clueless regional manager Michael Scott (Carell) believes himself to be an exceptional boss and mentor, but actually receives more eye-rolls than respect from his oddball staff. Entertainment Weekly calls The Office "smart and trenchant," and all six hilarious season one episodes are available here on DVD for the first time. The awkward silences in The Office will have you laughing out loud! It's time to clock in for Season Two of The Office, the comically honest look at the world of white-collar employment. Steve Carell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) won a Golden Globe for his role as Michael Scott, the sometimes pathetic but always hilarious regional manager of Dunder-Mifflin paper supply company. Join him and the amazing ensemble cast (Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak) as Michael, Dwight, Jim, Pam and Ryan navigate the hidden romance and open absurdity of the business world, from the Christmas party to sexual harassment training to the "Booze Cruise" retreat to the heartbreak of "Casino Night." Developed by Greg Daniels (King of the Hill, The Simpsons), fully staffed with all 22 outrageous episodes and packed with hours of laugh-ot-loud bonus features, The Office: Season Two is the must-own cure for the workday blues.

I wasn't expecting much from this show - caught it once waiting for another. It was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud - which I have never done with a T.V. show before. I got several other friends hooked. I can't wait to get the show on DVD so that I can watch it start to finish, in order. Much, much better than expected.

Worst Week is an outrageous comedy series about a guy, a girl, her parents and a side-splitting assortment of catastrophes. Sam (Kyle Bornheimer, Jericho) and Melanie (Erinn Hayes, Kitchen Confidential) are engaged with a baby on the way – so winning over her parents is job #1 for Sam. Stern judge Dick (Kurtwood Smith, That '70s Show) and overprotective Angela (Nancy Lenehan, My Name is Earl) are willing to give this well-meaning young man the benefit of the doubt, but something utterly disastrous happens every time they get together. That won\'t stop Sam from trying though and, with supportive Melanie doing damage control, he\'ll just keep jumping back into the fray, hoping to charm his way into the good graces of his future in-laws. Each time he tries though the mishaps get crazier. Based on the acclaimed British sitcom The Worst Week of My Life, this madcap comedy from one of the twisted minds that brought you Scrubs boldly goes where no family misadventure has gone before.

Grounded for Life - Season One (2001)

I always liked this one. It was quite a funny show whose ratings didn't reflect how good it was. In it's rookie season, it was good, but as each season progressed, I think it got better. My favourite character is Eddie who comes across as a dark, moody, brooding and mysterious guy, who is actually a puppy dog. The kids are great and the parents are fun. What this show does in each and every episode, is have flashbacks. The story lines always have a reason to go back in time and explain how a particular situation occured. The Finnerty's are the fun kind of family we all wish we were a part of. Through all the teasing and fighting, you know they love each other. This is a keeper, and I'm sorry it was cancelled. As I said earlier; ratings don't always proove how good a show can be, and this is a classic example. A terrific sitcom that will keep you laughing.

I have been eagerly anticipating this DVD. I am a fairly recent fan of Reba (since last summer), and unfortunately did not begin watching her television show until midway through the third season. However, I bought the first season when it came out last year, and LOVED IT. I can not even begin to try and give a higher recommendation for anything involving this show. The ensemble cast gives a stellar performance as a dysfunctional family trying to cope with problems such as adultery and teen marriage. Reba takes the stage in this warm family sitcom that takes those issues, and shows viewers how you can handle them, with a lighthearted, funny perspective that is sure to leave you with a warm, satisfied feeling. Whether you are watching Reba herself handle these situations in her life as a "survivor," as the theme song so appropriately states, Barbra Jean and all of her hilarious antics, or any of the other characters, you are sure to enjoy this sitcom. I can't wait for this release in December, and if you are smart, you will indulge yourself in this smart and funny sitcom! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Could of been a lot worse I guess, but I'm not shedding any tears over the show's quick cancellation. The problems with the show is that it tries that formula of mixing quirky family humor for the grown ups with cheap gags for the kiddies but it becomes just one big mess. Also, the children are pretty horrible characters, there's nothing to empathize with especially since they look SO modelled over market research. (Perhaps a comment of the shallow nature of the current video game industry? Unlikely.) They're just smug and self-absorbed but always painted as better people than the parents in the show. UPN's way of trying to be hip I guess. Patrick Warburton is the saving grace of the series and I guess there's a few game references in the first couple of episodes to validate your taste. In the end, nothing really memorable about this series.

South Park - The Passion of the Jew (2004) Review

South Park - The Passion of the Jew (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When you watch "South Park" you know what to expect. This DVD is no exception: episodes packed with controversy, foul language and fun from beginning to end. "The Passion of the Jew", besides being a brilliant episode, synchronized with the release of the Mel Gibson classic "The Passion of the Christ", goes beyond making fun of a Gibson portrayed as a lunatic (something at which it's very effective). It showcases the dangers of extremes when it comes down to religious matters. Both sides presented, those who went to extremes to defend or discard the movie, end up being ridiculized.
The episode showcased is accompanied by two other episodes, both of which are hilarious as well: "Christian Rock Hard" and "Red Hot Catholic Love". One touches on the topic of illegal downloads, its enforcement and the somewhat questionable stance some of its early opposing musicians had about it, contrasting it against the fact that high record sales don't necessarily imply that the music in those records may be any good or honest (written for artistic reasons). Last, the "Red Hot Catholic Love" episode tackles the serious issue that took on huge proportions a couple of years ago, as several sex abuses by priests took on the front page of many of our media.
Overall, these three episodes of "South Park" continue to be innapropriate for kids and those who become offended easily. However, all three of them converge in the middle-of-the-road, after presenting opposite views about the three issues at hand. This is done in a brilliant and fun way. While I am not precisely a fan of the show, I must admit I found this DVD extremely funny and highly recommendable.

Grounded for Life was a great show that lasted from 2000-2005. In 2003 the show moved from Fox to the WB network. Season four was the first full season shown on the WB. It consisted of 28 episodes because 6 episodes were left over from season three. However we can now enjoy them all on this new DVD set coming in November. I will now list the episodes.

Grounded for Life: Season 2 (2001)

The seasons of Grounded for Life are kind of a mess. The last five episodes of season one weren't run until season 2. But they are included on Season 1. For season 2, 17 new episodes were produced. This was also their last complete season on Fox as the third season had them swap over to the WB after only 3 episodes. This is one of those shows that deserves a DVD release since it was nearly impossible to follow the show when it was broadcast. Donal Logue was one of the great TV dads - he was like Robert Young - if Robert had knocked up his wife in high school and pretty much went from teenager to dad without getting to enjoy his misspent college years.
The episode on the set include:
Don't Let Me Download
Bang on a Drum
Smoke on the Daughter
I Saw Daddy Hitting Santa Claus
We Are Family
Mr. Roboto
Don't Fear the Reefer
Take It to the Limit
Eddie Said Knock You Out

Relax!
The Kids Are Alright
Swearin' to God
Eddie and This Guy with Diamonds
I Fought the In-Laws
Dust in the Wind
Oops!...I Did It Again

"From Ashes To Ashton": An Interview with Ashton Kutcher
"Kevin Corrigan: He Ain't Eddie, He's My Brother": A Brand New Interview with Kevin Corrigan ("Eddie")

The Andy Milonakis Show - The Complete First Season (2005)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm an Andy Milonakis fanatic. I saw every episode of season 1 at least 5 times. I haven't been this stoked about a show since Sifl and Olly, or Tom Green left the airwaves. Now this review is for the `real fans'. See I bought Andy as soon as I got out of work. Threw it into the DVD player, and something terribly wrong happened. All the original music has been replaced! The Dr. Curly skit is no longer amusing as Master P's `I miss my homies' has been replaced with some terrible crunk track that does not fit at all. Mike Jones was removed from the Milkshake skit, Gorillaz was replaced during the Dream skit. Even Green Day's `American Idiot' is removed from the end credits. MTV was to cheap to license the original songs, and the skits suffer as a result. MTV needs to be punished! They could have at least had the decency to warn a brutha, but no, they thought they could get away with it. So rise up people. Do everything in your power to voice you contempt for the penny-pinching powers that be. Keep watching the reruns and do not buy this DVD set until they release the original music. Hey MTV, you owe me twenty bux! On a positive note, the unaired skits are every bit as good if not better then the ones that aired, but it still doesn't remove the sour taste from within my mouth.

The Andy Milonakis Show - The Complete Second Season (2005)
Average Reviews:

Andy Milonakis is a fool simply put. Dude is crazy funny. Is it because he is a grown man in the body of a 12 year old boy, or just his dead pan humor? Who knows? What is known is that his MTV series is a big hit and the shows second season arrives on DVD on October 10th. On his variety show, filled with skits, crazy movies, and antics in his New York apartment Andy often has special guests.
Now is your chance to own the episode in which Andy was fit for a set of grillz by none other than Paul Wall himself. The Office: Season One (2005) Review

The Office: Season One (2005)

I love this show and I think NBC actually made one good decison this year by renewing it. Steve Carrell is genious as Michael Scott the manager with a little too much enthusiasm. The supporting cast is great and I'm glad that the bonus features are good because a 6 episode season of a half hour show is hardly worth twenty-two dollars but it's worth it. I didn't think the pilot was great but I tuned in again and I'm glad I did. I hope that if you don't watch this show that you decide to try it out because it is brillant. A lot of people say it isn't as good as the British version but it comes close. Check out Diversity Day it's the best in the set.
The Episodes
1. Pilot
2. Diversity Day
3. Healthcare
4. The Alliance
5. Basketball
6. Hot Girl
The bonus features include deleted scenes and audio commetaries. Even though it may seem pricey you'll probably get as much enjoyment out of it as you would any other show.

In this hilarious and faster-paced adaptation of the popular British comedy series, Steve Carell is Michael Scott, the egotistical, insensitive and almost supernaturally incompetent regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company. Michael sees himself as theoffice funnyman, a fount of business wisdom and his employees' cool friend. He has no clue that his staff merely tolerates his inappropriate behavior because he signs their paychecks. Michael acts as the obnoxious tour guide for an omni-present documentary crew who unflinchinglycapture his many shortcomings along with Dunder Mifflin's petty workplace politics, simmering romances and side-splittingly awkward moments.
