U2 - Best of 1990-2000 (2002) Review

U2 - Best of 1990-2000 (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Quick Overview: This DVD is both an excellent survey of U2's music during the past decade and a fascinating anthology of music videos, both conceptual and performance. Musically, it contains all of the songs from the regular release of the CD "U2: The Best of 1990-2000", with the exception that "For the First Time" is replaced by "The Fly". In addition, it contains seven bonus tracks, songs lamented by many for not being included on the CD. Cinematically, it boasts both performance and conceptual videos of varying quality; with the inclusion of intriguing director commentaries, many of the videos merit multiple viewings. Alternate videos for "Even Better Than The Real Thing", "One", "Stuck in a Moment...", "Staring at the Sun", and "Numb" are provided to yield a total of 28 music videos for 23 songs. As a special treat, three documentaries are included. All in all, this is an amazing DVD.
Details, Shot One ("Conceptual Videos"): The most successful conceptual videos are "Numb" (Godley version), "Please", and "If God Will Send His Angels". The "Numb" video bluntly demonstrates the cause of The Edge's numbness--it's also quite funny and disturbing. "Please" and "If God Will Send His Angels" are probably my favorites. Bono's performance in "Please" is poignant, and the gimic employed by Corbijn works well here. The use of split screen and altered film speed in "If God Will Send..." effectively communicates that awful out-of-sync feeling of being alone among people, even among friends.
"One" deserves special mention. Three videos were made for this. Pellington's version, employed in concert, emphasized buffalos, images of which adorn both the CD and DVD; sadly, this video was NOT included on the DVD. The other two videos are here, and they are interesting. Corbijn's version is notable for having Bono's father playing a major role; in addition, you get to decide which member of U2 would make the most attractive woman--I don't think it's Bono.
Details, Shot Two ("Performance Videos"): What would U2 be without footage of them on stage? Many of these videos, including conceptual ones, feature perforance footage. Some, like "Gone" and "Mofo", are essentially concert videos; I prefer watching these songs on the Zoo TV and PopMart videos. Others, like "Even Better Than the Real Thing", "Mysterious Ways", and "Staring at the Sun", utilize novel filming techniques to
bolster the song's mood or message. Some are more successful than others. For example, at first boring, the strange effects in "Staring at the Sun" (Scott version) become almost revelatory at the end. In "Please" and "One", expressions on The Edge's face at key points of the video are very telling and make the inclusion of performance footage mandatory.
One Drop of Sad: These are minor quibbles. 1) Navigation is sometimes frustrating. You click on the director's name and you get either the video OR the video with commentary. If you click on the triangle beside his name, you definitely get commentary. If you have the same trouble, keep trying; eventually, you will get the straight video. 2) With "Mofo", I had to try accessing the video several times before I heard the soundtrack. "Mofo" was the only video with which I had this problem. 3) Although the box claims subtitles in five languages, I did not find Japanese subtitles actually provided for the songs I checked, and I checked most of them. 4) Some songs, like "Beautiful Day" and "One", had alternate videos. It would have been nice to have ALL versions. (This is a BEST OF anthology, so maybe they only included the best of the alternates?)
Extra Tidbits: The DVD booklet provides interesting, albeit short, notes on each song. The DVD package provides storage space for the U2 The History Mix DVD, that came with the special edition of "The Best of 1990-2002" CD.
In Summary: This is an outstanding DVD. It contains most, arguably the best, of the singles from 1990-2000 with their videos, all of which contain something of at least passing interest and some of which are very powerful. The director commentaries are fascinating and provide valuable behind-the-scenes information. The documentaries are a nice addition. I highly recommend "U2: The Best of 1990-2002"; it's one of the best DVDs I've bought this year.

The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till (2005) Review

The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till (2005)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It was in August of 1955 that 15-year-old Emmett Till was sent from Chicago by his mother to spend the summer with his great uncle, Moses Wright, in Money, Mississippi. On August 24, Till and some other black teenagers who had been picking cotton went to Bryant's Grocery and Meat Market to get some candy. In the store Till allegedly whistled at Carolyn Bryant. When her husband returned from a trip several days later and heard about the incident, Bryant and his half-brother J. W. Milam decided to "teach the boy a lesson." On August 28, they kidnapped Till from his uncle's house, too him to a plantation shed, brutalized the boy, shot him, and dumped his body in the Tallahatchie river, having tied a seventy pound fan from a cotton gin around Till's neck with barbed wire. The two men were tried and found not guilty by an all-white jury. In January 1956 their confession was paid for and published by "Look" magazine. Both men would die from cancer, Milam in 1980 and Bryant in 1990.
I do not remember when I first heard of Emmett Till, but the story of the black teenager who was killed by white men in Mississippi for the crime of whistling at a white woman was a pivotal event in energizing the Civil Rights Movement and I have known about it for a long time. However, I never saw a photograph of Emmett Till's body until I was at the Seattle Art Museum looking at an exhibit having to deal with depictions of race and gender in art, and there was a small photograph of Till's body on display at his funeral. The photograph was too small to tell any details, but you were struck by the swollen and misshaped head. It did not look human, but then to Milam and Bryant, Emmett Till was never a human being.
The title of Keith A. Beauchamp's documentary is "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till," not because the story has not been told, but because the people he interviewed, including Till's mother, Mamie Carthan Mobley, along with several cousins and friends from that summer in Mississippi, never had a chance to tell their story in court. Beauchamp provides them with that opportunity, using newsreel footage from 1955 as well. It follows the chronology of events, from Till's birth to the present and Beauchamp's own investigations into the case (his chief claim is that up to 14 other people were involved in the crime in various ways). For just telling the story and covering the facts, Beauchamp keeps things pretty basic in his documentary, letting people speak for themselves.
The most unforgettable part of the documentary is when Mobley tells the story of getting her son's body back home. Officials in Mississippi wanted to bury the body before anybody got a good look at it and when Mobley managed to get it back to Chicago the coffin was nailed shut. But she got it opened and then describes what it was she saw in simple and graphic details, emphasizing not the horrors but the child she remembered (e.g., she smiles as she talks about how she thought Emmett's teeth were the most beautiful things she had ever seen and then remembering seeing only two of them and wondering where the rest of them were). It is only after Beauchamp lets her tell of the pivotal point where she decides to leave the casket open at the funeral so the world can see what was done to her son in Mississippi that we go from a school photograph of a smiling Emmett Till to the wrecked ruin of his face and head. This is the most disturbing image from the Civil Rights movement, but that is exactly why it is the most important one and why its publication in "Jet" was an important catalyst. You really cannot tell the story unless you look at the photograph, and teachers who want to show this documentary to their students should be prepared to defend their decision.
In addition to Mobley, it is Moses Wright, who stood up in court and pointed to the two white men who came and took away Till (there is a photograph of the dramatic moment), who stands out here. But it strikes me that somebody who is not mentioned by name, William Bradford Huie, played a key role as well. A journalist and author ("The Americanization of Emily," "The Klansman"), Huie was often criticized by mainstream journalists for using his checkbook to get stories. But it was Huie who paid the murderers to confess in a national publication five months later. A follow up story revealed that the businesses of Milam and Bryant had gone under because they were ostracized by local whites. I am sure this did not happen because of the murders, which clearly the jury representing the town supported, but because of the published confession that took away the thin veneer provided by the not guilty verdict.
This documentary received a lot of publicity because it fueled an effort to reopen the case. The U.S. Department of Justice did reopen the case to determine whether others in addition to Milam and Bryant were involved. The F.B.I. and Mississippi officials worked on a joint investigation, and while Till's body was exhumed so an official autopsy could be performed, the federal investigation was closed in March of this year. Consequently, justice in this case will not result in anybody ending up in jail, but rather with preserving the testimony of these witnesses for posterity (Till's mother died after the documentary was completed). Carolyn Bryant (now Donham after her fourth husband) is still alive and living in Greenville Mississippi. Signs in her front yard warn that uninvited visitors will be prosecuted, an apparent indication that she believes the law in Mississippi continues to protect her a lot more than it ever did Emmett Till.

In August 1955, Mamie Till-Mobley of Chicago sent her only child, 14 year-old Emmett Louis Till, to visit relatives in the Mississippi Delta.Little did she know that only 8 days later, Emmett would be abducted from his Great-Uncle’s home, brutally beaten and murdered by one of the oldest Southern taboos: whistling at a white woman in public. The murderers were soon arrested but later acquitted of murder by an all-white, all-male jury.Keith Beauchamp's groundbreaking film is the result of a 10-year journey to uncover the truth behind the nightmarish murder of an innocent African-American teenager. Emmett’s brutal murder - and his family’s brave actions in the horrifying aftermath- served as a major impetus for America's civil rights movement and led to Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to make decisions that changed the course of history.Discover for yourself why the Chicago Tribune wrote, "If you don’t believe film can change the world, you haven’t seen The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till."

This series is a lot of fun. Some of the drama may have been contrived, but you can still tell when the girls get mad, or for that matter, drunk. And there's a heck of a lot more personality to these characters than on any other show.
The bouts might even be more intense on film than they are in person, which is saying something.
Spike TV or some other network needs to pick this show up and make new episodes.

Puppetmaster vs. Demonic Toys (2004) Review

Puppetmaster vs. Demonic Toys (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Look I know Full Moon went under but who knew that the next time we'd see the Puppet Master dolls it would be this awful? The plot is worse than even the worst of the Puppet Master original series titles, the acting makes the Full Moon actors look like Oscar Winners and the puppets aren't even close to the real deal!
I guess the easiest question I have is, Why even buy the rights to a franchise if you're not going to use the signatures of the franchise in the first film you make with it? Blade, Six Shooter, Jester, Pinhead are replicated in this movie so poorly it looks as if an 8 year old art student made them. Pinhead's hands even appear to be clay.
Worse is the movements. They don't have any of the fluent movements that were trademark to how the puppets looked real and there are scenes where there are massive amounts of strings showing everywhere. It's embarrassing to say the least.
The puppets weren't talkers before but they made sounds. This time they were completely mute. I wish I could have said the same for Corey Feldman who used to know how to act but in this movie comes off so over the top it's impossible to care about him or feel any sense of empathy for his character oncesoever. Most of the time you're wishing you had a gun to shoot yourself with so you could end his speaking parts.
The Demonic Toys look different and if possible even more cheap than before also. Full Moon might not have had the greatest actors, scripts or special effects but they usually spent a sufficient amount of time, money and energy on making the dolls (the stars of their movies) look good.
There is another small glitch in this movie that will annoy the fans of the Puppet Master franchise. Somehow Toulon's blood is needed for the formula to keep the dolls alive. The formula is now injected into holes in the back of the puppet's necks. For casual fans this is not a big deal, for longtime fans they know Toulon's blood had nothing to do with the formula and in part Three Toulon clearly injects them in the front of the neck area in a way that made it clear that as long as they got an injection, the puppets were fine.
Vanessa Angel is not a bad actress and has a million dollar body but she's stuck in a role and a movie that screams "I just want to collect a paycheck".
The Puppet Master theme music is blatantly absent as is the entire feel of the Full Moon series. The actors are horrible and seem to have to pause through lines in order to spit out the script they were supposed to remember and although the Demonic Toys franchise is much smaller I'm sure their fans felt disrespected by how marginalized their toys were to Angel's character, Sharpe.
Full Moon had this project announced before they folded. If only they had completed this then and not let Sci Fi skimp and cheat their way into trashing two beloved cult franchises with one movie that is so blatantly bad that it even loses the appeal of goofy and cheesy that so many second and third rate horror films fall into.
Avoid at all costs if you like either series.

It’s the night before Christmas Eve, and oddball inventor Robert Toulon (Corey Feldman of THE GOONIES and STAND BY ME) has discovered his great granduncle’s formula for reanimating the master’s lethal puppets: Six-Shooter, Jester, Blade and Pinhead. Penn & Teller - Bullsh*t The Complete Second Season (2003) Review

Penn and Teller - Bullsh*t The Complete Second Season (2003)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Penn and Teller can be abrasive and obnoxious but they are also quite rational and extremely funny. The BS series looks at a wide range of pop culture phenomena and debunks them from a rational point of view. They do so with humor and an intense, biting sarcasm directed at those who would harm others. To those who are merely acting foolishly or exhibiting bad judgment, they are slightly kinder.
Some think that the second season is not as good as the first but I disagree. I think it is just as good and I look forward to more episodes next season. Those for this one include the following:
PETA- exposing the animal rights organization that would rather have people die than animals; who support arson to free animals; who euthanize 2/3 of the animals they save; who object to medical research and drugs derived from animals except for their high executives.
Safety Hysteria- anti terrorist mail order goods, fear of magnetic fields, fear of cell phones, fear of toilets, school violence and some gratuitous nudity from a model are some of the features of this episode. Basically, lots of people make lots of money preying on lots of fears from lots of fools.
Business of Love - consider the proposition that monogamy is unnatural; look at schemes to meet the perfect mate; learn how to hoodwink members of the opposite sex into thinking you a better than you are; learn some of the methods of relationship books and magazines. The bottom line is that some people are looking for love and are miserable and most of the rest are in relationships and...miserable.
War on Drugs - This one does not glorify drugs and even makes the point that drugs screw up people's lives. What it does do is question the worth, effectiveness and moral rectitude of prohibition in general and the war on drugs in particular
Recycling - It causes pollution; costs extra and produces inferior products and results. It sounds counterintuitive and wrong. It goes against all of what we are taught by the popular media, school and "environmental whackos" but is it right? This program looks at the possibility that what we are taught is wrong.
Profanity - Looks at attempts to suppress profanity. This episode does not "endorse" the use of offensive or vulgar language but does question its suppression in a land dedicated to free speech. Freedom of speech comes with a price...sometimes people say things we don't like.
Yoga, Tantric Sex, Etc. - A look a new age psychobabble, this episode explores the proposition that most, if not all, new age trends is the result of a bunch of hippies with an effective capitalistic sense. It does not necessarily trash everything but it is pretty merciless on the mysticism aspect.
Fountain of Youth - The lady with all the plastic surgery was frightening in her obsession. The pricetag for all the body work was even more frightening. There are other dodges to "stay young". Salad diets, specialized art, human growth hormone, and other tricks are all tried. All of them have a cost and the cash was just the least of it. Real health problems are a big part of it and the loss of dignity might be the worst of all.
Death, Inc. - People spend a lot of money on all the stuff that accompanies death. This includes funerals, cemeteries, embalming, and all sorts of bells and whistles. It's a big industry and that means that there are lots of opportunities for profits. That means that there are plenty of opportunites for abuse. There is plenty of opportunity for exposure.
12 Stepping - This one was surprising. Twelve step programs are examined with the idea that they are a cult. The claim that that addictions are disease are completely dismissed. They take exception with the religious basis of the programs and from there tend to dismiss them. They do not say that the programs do not work at all but claim that others might be better. Perhaps the most valid point they make is their objection to the compulsory aspects of the programs when people are forced into the programs by the legal system or other authorities.
The Bible: Fact or Fiction - This one is nothing new. It pits biblical literalists against agnostics and skeptics. What is left out are most of the middle roads. The program rightly points out that there are some literal inconsistencies and goes on to try to explain some of them with rational explanations. I'm a clergyman and have no objections at all to these debates but I don't get much out of them either. Faith and theology are poorly equipped to deal with some issues. Science is also poorly equipped to deal with some issues. Both have had some spectacular failures.
Exercise vs. Genetics - This one is pretty much a rehash of one of the first season programs. In light of the craze for physical fitness, it looks at all the money and effort that is put into exercise regimens and other means of looking good but if your genetics aren't on the same page, you are doomed. That doesn't mean that exercise is not worthwhile but there is a difference between being healthy and being genetically disposed towards looking like Mr. Universe of a supermodel.
Hypnosis - "One person is talking and another person is going along with it" That sums up the view of what hypnosis is all about. People do want they are predisposed towards wanting to do. This works even better when they are told to do what they want to do. Self delusion with some friendly but larcenous help is the key.

I finally purchased these as a Christmas gift for myself. If you are a fan of the "underground"-type shows or even the greats like Monty Python, you are likely to love these. The discs have spent more time in my DVD player than their cases. Very satisfying to watch again and again. If you've seen Dylan Moran's comedy act, hang on because this is where he goes well over the top. The humor is outlandish and sometimes a bit cruel, but absolutely brilliant! One of my favorite casts!

The Dead Zone - The Complete Second Season (2002)

I loved the book and the movie. I never miss the series. Even reruns are tremendous. In this season, several episodes are standouts. "Deja Voodoo" and "The Hunt" were dynamite episodes worth watching over and over again. "The Hunt" shows remote viewing, which is the ability to "see" things from a distant location. I had read about government use of remote viewing some 15 years ago! What they showed in this episode was similar to what I had read.
Here is a brief episode guide, which I hope will be helpful.
1. Valley of the Shadow: The kidnapper of a CEO's son is obsessed with Johnny.
2. Descent(1): Several teenagers are lost in an abandoned mine owned by Johnny's grandfather.
3. Ascent (2): Johnny psychically enters Walt's coma.
4. The Outsider: Johnny has a vision that a skin cream is responsible for severe birth defects in the future.
5. Precipitate: After Johnny is given a blood transfusion from 6 donors, he has visions of their lives.
6. Scars: Stillson's political rival is a war veteran. Guest star (gs): Gerald McRaney
7. Misbegotten: Three women kidnap Johnny and take him to a house where a family was killed.
8. Cabin Pressure: Johnny has a vision that the jet he is on will crash.
9. The Man Who Never Was: After a delivery person leaves an item belonging to a shut-in, Johnny gets a vision that he is disappearing. gs: Robert Culp.
10. Dead Men Tell Tales: Johnny saves the life of a mob boss and ends up in the middle of a mafia dispute.
11. Playing God: Johnny has a vision that a friend will die in a car accident. Every vision shows a worse outcome, whenever Johnny tries to save her. gs: Ally Sheedy.
12. Zion: Bruce's father has died and Bruce comes face to face with an unresolved past. gs: Louis Gossett, Jr.
13. The Storm: While Bruce is trying to bring Johnny to an intervention, Johnny has visions of a massive storm.
14. Plague: Johnny "sees" a high school science fair during which a deadly illness spreads to the children.
15. Deja Voodoo: Johnny has a vision of a romantic encounter with a beautiful woman that ends in her death. (Especially good and unpredictable.)
16. The Hunt: Johnny participates in remote viewing sponsored by the CIA. Osama Bin Laden as a target is implied but never spoken. (Gripping episode.)
17. The Mountain: Johnny has a vision that a plane with valuable cargo had crashed in the mountains.
18. The Combination: Johnny's vision is that a boxer will die during a fight.
19. Visions: A man from the future asks for Johnny's help.

Master stage magicians Penn and Teller take on psychics, astrology, the environment, and a host of other questionable topics. Like the title of the show, Penn and Teller do not hesitate at all in demonstrating that the frauds, con men, and phony scientists are full of Bull Sh*t! Happily, they manage to do it with a unique style and humor that left me snorting Dr. Pepper through my nostrils. Ouch. It was worth it!
In the process of watching these programs, you will learn exactly -how- frauds and fakers pull of many of their stunts, -why- certain pseudoscientists and pseudo historians are wrong, and even -why- people are often so eager to believe and accept things at face value. While our prestidigitationator hosts are opinionated, they are always on the side of the common man (us) who so often plays the dupe to the frauds of our day.
These programs are entertainment and education rolled into one. I am not the sort of person who usually buys dvds of every series I like. This series was warrented though, and long overdue...Penn and Teller have proven themselves worthy of a place on any skeptic's shelf. Enjoy!

If you have Ghost Hunters Season 2, Vols. 1 & 2, you'll notice that two episodes are missing. The Top 20 countdown and the Halloween Special, both of which are contained on this "Best of" DVD. But note, these are the only 2 episodes on the disc. While I'm glad that these episodes are available, it seems dumb to put them on a separate disc when they were a part of the regular season. A double dip? You make the call! The Halloween Special is particularly of interest to fans because it's where Brian Harnois is allowed back into TAPS, making its omission from the season confusing.
While I love having Ghost Hunters on DVD, please "powers that be," hire a different company in the future. These transfers and audio mixes are the worst ever. Because they're so bad, I'll only rent these titles instead of buying them. If, however, they rectify these issues, I would buy them in a second.

The Dead Zone - The Complete Third Season (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Building upon the strengths of seasons one and two, the third season of The Dead Zone takes Johnny's visions of a future apocalypse to a new level as he has now been joined by another mysterious visitor with powers similar to his own. A new love in his life and a new change in the relationship with his son occurs. The creators of the show continue to have great fun turning the sci-fi fantasy genre on its ear with these amazing, wonderful stories. If you loved King's original book The Dead Zone, you will not be disappointed! There's a lot of great things waiting for you to see and I highly recommend picking up a copy.
Here's a summary of the episodes for this season:
Finding Rachel, Part 1: Johnny becomes a suspect in a case he's trying to resolve regarding Rachel Caldwell, a missing woman who also happens to be on Greg Stillson's election team.
Finding Rachel, Part 2: Johnny is arrested for Rachel Caldwell's murder. He must then convince the victim's sister that she must help him solve her murder, despite the fact that she is convinced Johnny is guilty of the crime.
Collision: A young girl's mysterious disappearance prompts Johnny to have visions about the night of his car accident. Somehow the two visions are connected and it is up to Johnny to resolve one vision before he can resolve the other.
Cold Hard Truth: A confrontational radio station jock draws Johnny to him. Unexpectedly, Johnny foresees the jock's death and, despite the animosity, decides to help him.
Total Awareness: Johnny teams up with a strange young woman with the ability to predict numbers. Together they seek to expose a 'total information awareness system' which threatens to put everyone's right to privacy in jeopardy.
No Questions Asked: Johnny offers to help Walt Bannerman with a crime from his past that has unexpectedly resurfaced. The catch? Don't ask any questions.
Looking Glass: Identical twin law students create a video depicting a murder in order to trick Johnny into having a vision about it. Things get more complicated when the ruse turns out to be a cover for something far more sinister.
Speak Now: While attending a wedding, Johnny has visions about the couple's pending future and must decide whether or not he should tell them about what he's seen.
Cycle of Violence: Johnny experiences visions of a Columbine-like school shooting while attending a school play. He cannot confirm the killer's identity. The principal of the school takes the opportunity to restrict the freedom of the students and starts making his own guesses about who the culprit is.
Instinct: Johnny and Walt investigate the unexplained, unnatural violent behavior of the wild animals that live around the city.
Shadows: Johnny has a vision of the death of a close friend and is nearly pushed to kill in order to protect them.
Tipping Point: Johnny's visions start causing physical problems and eventually threatening his life. He must decide if brain surgery is the right answer. Doing so would remove his Dead Zone causing him to lose the ability to possibly prevent Armageddon.

Saturday Night Live - The Best of Will Ferrell (2003) Review

Saturday Night Live - The Best of Will Ferrell (2003)

This DVD is great, but could've been much better. At only 75 minutes, SNL/NBC are giving a [weak] product. Of course Will Ferrell doesn't disappoint at all on this though. Skits include:
-Behind the Music: Blue Oyster Cult ("more cowbell")
-Spartan Cheerleaders @ a chess match
-"Dissing Your Dog" commercial
-Harry Carey show
-the annoying lovers (with Rachel Dratch)
-the pretentious NYC store clerks (with Jimmy Falon & Sean Hayes)
-the bum as the nude art school model (can't remember his name)
-fishing with Bush Jr & Sr
-Jeopardy with "Burt Reynolds" "French Stewart" and "Sean Connery"
-Robert Goulet does gangsta rap
-Bobby & Marty Culp at the Drug Awareness seminar
-Inside the Actors Studio w/Charles Nelson Riley
-Roxbury guys with Jim Carrey
the extras are pretty cool..especially the deleted skit with the "old prospector." I think that's the funniest thing on the whole DVD. It also has Will's "tryout" with SNL, and 2 Conan O'Brien appearances.
But what is missing is the Neil Diamond Storytellers. I can't believe they left that off. SNL/NBC really could have given everyone a quality product but they just phoned it in.

Will Ferrell may look like the guy next door but there\'s nothing ordinary about his comic creations. From 1995ito 2002 he dominated Saturday Night Live with characters as different as Craig the Cheerleader and President George W. Bush. See the best of Celebrity Jeopardy and Bobbi and Marty Culp along with plenty of yelling near-nudity and more cowbell. Plus there\'s extra material including Will\'s favorite scenes that were cut after Dress Rehearsal and never seen until now.System Requirements: Runnig Time 72 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre:COMEDY Rating:NR UPC:031398841920 Manufacturer No:71092

Chappelle's Show - Season 2 (2003) Review

Chappelle's Show - Season 2 (2003)

For all of those complainers out there whining about the so-called censorship on this "uncensored" Chappelle Season Two DVD set, read on...it seems the biggest tirade is about the pixilated breasts during the Rick James sequence at the China Club. Well, there is good reason for that pixelation...the pixelation is to give the viewer the idea that there were bare breasts there when there really was not...they were really covered up! If you watch the "outtakes/blooper" reel, you'll see clearly (and UN-pixelated) that the women at the bar have dark covers over their breasts, but the pixelation made them look bare.
Had they not had these covers on, this DVD would NOT have censored it. And ask yourself why they pixelated that when, during the Oprah sequence, Dave was painting a VERY NAKED woman who was NOT pixelated at all...and was 100% in the buff. Think about it!
It's really a shame when reviews have to resort to something like this, but I felt I owed it to Dave, Neal and their genius comedic talents to let everyone know what they were complaining about was really absolutely nothing! So, instead of WRONGLY complaining about pixelated breasts (which you were wrong about anyway), spend your time watching this hilarious set for the sole reason it was created for - making us laugh!
