(More customer reviews)I saw this movie a while back on the Disney Channel. After hearing some mixed reviews about it, some being good; some being bad, I decided to give it a try because it was about an all-girl band named "The Cheetah Girls" and I basically love anything about music.
When I watched it, I was amazed.
This movie contains friendship as well as lots and lots of awesome, cool songs!
I *HIGHLY* recommend this for people who loves movies about friendship and music. It's one of the best Disney movies I've ever seen.

Witch Hunter Robin - Anime Legends Complete Collection (2004) Review

(More customer reviews)Witch Hunter Robin is a 26 episode Japanese animation series set in the near future in Japan. In this near future, individuals dubbed Witches who exhibit uncontrolled or psychotic manifestations of supernatural penomena are tracked and hunted by a shadowy international agency. The title character, a quiet teenage girl raised in a European convent who posesses the ability to mentally start fires, works as a hunter for the Japanese branch of this agency (in the STN-J). Some of the people she works with are up-front about their personal histories; others stay secretive. The first half of the series focuses on Robin working within the STN-J to hunt other Witches. Events halfway through the series lead to her becoming a fugitive; the storyline then delves deeper into several subplots concerning Robin's origins, the personal backgrounds of some of the secretive STN-J members, and the activities of the STN-J administrator.
This series is carried by its rich character development and its strong dramatic moments (which are neither forced nor overplayed). The characters, even those who appear in single episodes, are defined deeply in a way that makes the watcher care about them. The storyline slowly (but not too slowly) unfolds within single episodes and across the series as a whole. An air of tension or mystery often permeates the plot. Remarkably, this is all done with relatively little action (many action scenes merely feature people staring at each other while they duel with psychic powers) and with remarkably little nudity. This is a strong dramatic series that holds the viewer at the edge of his or her seat with plotline, not with cheap thrills.
The animation style compliments the storyline very nicely. Everything is cast in dark hues complimented with pale colors. Faces, clothing, and architecture are highly stylized; much of it looks gothic or industrial. A strong emphasis is placed on visuals, particularly visuals of individual faces. While the individual characters and scenery are drawn technically well, the animators did have some problems. Some scenes feature computer-drawn backdrops that look artificial, and cars for some reason are not drawn well when moving along the line of sight. Despite these drawbacks, though, the animation still looks great.
The series only has two problems. The minor problem is the soundtrack, which is somewhat lackluster. The major problem is the predictability of the storyline. In earlier episodes, when Robin is hunting other Witches, the writers leave little mystery as to who will be hunted at the end of the episode, even if it is supposed to be unknown. Often, the hunted Witch is the one character that Robin or someone else in the STN-J interacts with during the episode. The later episodes become less predictable, but a significant portion of the series's finale is disappointingly easy to infer.
I did not view all of the extras on the DVDs, but both the character/equipment overviews and particularly the cultural information were useful.
Overall, this is a very good anime series with excellent drama and characterization as well as a visually-pleasing animation style, although the predictable storyline and lackluster soundtrack inhibit it from being the best. I recommend it to any anime, sci-fi, or fantasy fan.

Twitches - Betwitched Edition (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)An original Disney Movie which is based on a best selling book series with the same name, starring one of the famous twins, Tia and Tamera Mowry as Alex Fielding and Camryn Barnes who was separated at birth. Taken each by their protectors, Karsh and Illeana to their safety to the next dimension, during in the peak of the war between Coventry and the Darkness, after it had taken the life of their father, Aron who had given them his every drop of powers to each of them.
Separated, each of them lead their own life, with lifestyles pretty much contrasted to each other. Camryn got adopted by David and Emily Barnes, pretty much rich folks who could afford anything for their beloved Cammy, as prove she got a car for her 16th birthday! Alex however lived her life in a lowside, living with her best friend since her mother died 2 month prior, looking for work on the side.
Karsh and Illieana stayed by them as they were growing up waiting for the time when they thought the twins are finally ready to take a hold of their destiny and they chose the day when they finally turned 21. Karsh intruded so Alex got to bump onto her long lost sister in a store. The rest of the day became a day of revelations for them. They realized in their whole life they had never parted with their past and their true home. Alex wrote stories of Coventry ever since she was a kid and active during the night and Cam drew sketches of her homeland and characters that turned out to be the Darkness and their mother. Time was running short and they needed to find a way to defeat the Darkness and meet with their long lost mother who was looking for them all of their lives, who remarried to Thantos, brother to their father.
The advert itself for the Disney Channel tempted me to watch it and the wait actually paid off! The beginning was quite baffling at first but I soon caught up with the storyline. The plot is cute in some points and nerve testing in a few but of course there's a bit of that special Disney touch of tear jerking moments. The special effects and sets are amazing and beautiful. I am in love with the Merlin-ish touch they have managed to add in and it fits lovely!
Tia and Tamera Mowry really filled up the gaps for their fans who miss them while they are away from the tv show business and I'm glad they are included in this one. I really enjoy watching this movie and I hope other people would make be willing to add this into their DVD listing as I would.

Charmed - The Complete Third Season (2000) Review

(More customer reviews)Coming from a long time fan, season three is one of the best seasons ever. So much happens in this season, both on and off camera. Fan favorite Julian McMahon joins the Charmed cast in this season, and becomes part of one of the most long-running storylines for the series: the love affair between Phoebe and Cole. Initially a demon sent to destroy the Charmed Ones, he eventually goes rogue after falling in love with Phoebe. Off camera, something similar happened. Actor Julian McMahon began dating actress Shannen Doherty.
Speaking of Shannen, this is her final season with the Charmed show. After some creative differences with producers and cast, Shannen left the series but not before going behind the camera to direct it's season finale episode. Also to leave the series in season three is the show's creator Constance M. Burge. Fellow executive producer Brad Kern wanted to bring in a season long relationship storyline for the Phoebe character after seeing fan's reaction to season two's Piper/Leo/Dan storyline. Burge was against it as she wanted the series to go back to it's original concept of sisterly ties and exploring the character's wiccan heritage. Eventually she lost out and left the series around the time season three began taping.

My only complaint is that, as with the previous Charmed DVD releases, Paramount Studios remains to tread the "cheap" route by not offering any bonus material what-so-ever. The obvious choice would have been to release the unaired pilot on the first DVD set, which had a completely different actress play the role of Phoebe but alas none here either. If you can overlook this gross negligence, then I strongly encourage you to add this season to your collection.

The movie is narrated by and stars Christopher Lloyd as the patron of his small town. He has everyone call him Uncle Fred, including his own son and grandson and is a town legend. Uncle Fred used to own the chocolate factory that was the town's bread and butter. However, after a tragic accident involving a baking kiln that Uncle Fred had donated to the local high school, he shut the factory down and the town has been struggling ever since. However, with the accident at the school there also came a curse, that the town was to never celebrate Halloween again or else the young man who was baked alive would come back from the grave to destroy the town. Twenty years pass and Uncle Fred's son and grandson move back to town, wanting to celebrate Halloween. However, the townspeople won't have it. Then strange events start to happen and things go from strange to just plain bizarre.
WHEN GOOD GHOULS GO BAD is a good family Halloween movie to watch together. There isn't anything too scary and much of what could be frightening is tapered with a good sense of humor. The story is easy to follow and the acting is fairly well done for a made for tv flick. Christopher Lloyd is always a joy to watch and if for no other reason, this movie is worth watching for his performance. There aren't a whole lot of deep messages in the movie, though it does have a lot to say about the importance of family and staying connected (in more ways than one). Happy Halloween viewing.

(More customer reviews)Season 5 is a very interesting season to review. Many people have mixed feelings about it. Some say its the best and some say it is the downfall of Charmed. I somewhat agree with both sides, as my opinion is the first half is great up unitl the point where they vanquish Cole and shift into baby mode. Although some of the baby episodes are good, the show definately changed after the birth of Wyatt. This season was pretty light hearted with many baby-centric episodes but this season does have its dark points. Highlights include: A Witch's Tail, Sam I Am, Centennial Charmed, The Day The Magic Died, and Oh My Goddess.
Episodes:
1. A Witch's Tail Part 1 - The sisters help Mylie (Jamie Pressly), a mermaid, with a deal she made with the sea-hag.
2. A Witch's Tail Part 2 - Phoebe becomes a mermaid and Paige and Piper must convince her to return home.
3. Happily Ever After - A witch uses the power of fairy tales to create problems for the charmed ones.
4. Siren Song - A siren is in town preying on married men.
5. Witches In Tights - the sisters are transformed into superheros in order to take out a demon.
6. The Eyes Have It - The Charmed Ones encounter a gypsy curse and aid their friend Eva to show her the way of magic.
7. Sympathy For The Demon - Barbas is back to wreck some havok on the charmed ones.
8. A Witch In Time - Phoebe must constantly save her boyfriend from dying and if she doesn't stop, she will die.
9. Sam I Am - Paige meets her father, Sam, for the first time.
10. Y Tu Mummy Tambien - Pheobe gets mummified and her sisters must rescue her.
11. The Importance Of Being Phoebe - Cole kidnaps Phoebe and sends a shapeshifter to impersonate her.
12. Centennial Charmed - Paige orbs into an alternate reality and must find a way to vanquish Cole, once and for all.
13. House Call - A witch doctor cleans the manor for all the spirits vanquished there over the years.
14. Sand Francisco Dreamin' - the girls must save a sandman.
15. The Day The Magic Died - When the whole magical community shuts down, something big is in the making.
16. Baby's First Demon - 2 Demons are after Baby Wyatt and the sisters are surprised by some of his own powers.
17. Lucky Charmed - Leprachauns are in town and being killed.
18. Cat House - Piper and Leo have marriage counseling and Phoebe and Paige relive some of the past events of the show.
19. Nymphs Just Wanna Have Fun - Paige gets turned into a nymph.
20. Sense and Sense Ability - The girls have a curse put on them with the famous "Hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil"
21. Necromancing The Stone - Grams is back and confronted by an old lover.
22. Oh My Goddess Part 1 - The Titans are released and out for vengeance against the elders.
23. Oh My Goddess Part 2 - The sisters, now greek goddesses, are seduced by their powers.
Although this season had its fair share of ups and downs, it is still worth purchasing. Many changes to the show happened in this season, making it worth the money.

Piper (Combs) and Phoebe (Milano), now with younger half-sister Paige (McGowan) up to speed with her powers, more or less, and "The Power of Three" all living under one roof at the Halliwell manor, are trying to get their respective personal lives in order. All the while, continuing to battle the worst evils that come their way. Oldest sister Piper and her husband Leo (Krause), the siblings' whitelighter guardian angel, are thrilled at the prospect of the impending birth of their child. Yet, dealing with a normal pregnancy is tough enough, but factoring in their unborn baby's use of her magical powers gives Piper cause for concern. While middle sister Phoebe's career is on the rise, the same can't be said of her romantic life. Recently employed as a popular gossip columnist at a local newspaper, she's gained notoriety for her work, but she's trying to finalize her divorce from Cole (McMahon), the part demon/part human who became "The Source" (the greatest of all evil) and was vanquished, only to cling to life because of his love for Phoebe. Finally over her love for Cole, she's ready to get on with her life without him, unfortunately, after resurrecting himself, he's determined to prove his love for her by trying to do good. Phoebe's martial arts skills, her ability to levitate, the power of premonitions and her skill at making potions have helped vanquish many a demon. Youngest sister Paige has gone through quite a change in the past year with learning of her true heritage, then becoming adept at utilizing her powers of orbing herself and objects at will and getting used to having a family again. Raised by adoptive parents who died while she was still in high school, Paige was used to being a loner, but now she's proved to her sisters that she's up to the task of being one-third of the Power of Three. When it comes to good old fashioned police help, Inspector Darryl Morris (Dorian Gregory) is always there when the sisters need some aide or advice. As "The Charmed Ones," the three most powerful good witches to ever exist, the Halliwell sisters defeated "The Source" but now face the existence of powerful evils still prevalent and looking to defeat them. As Piper, Phoebe and Paige continue to wage war against all evil, they seek to strengthen their sisterly bond as they get closer to fulfilling their destiny.

Charmed - The Complete Sixth Season (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)Season 6 is definately not the average Charmed fans' favorite season but it is definately not the worst of the 8. This season was pretty much up and down, with most of the bad episodes early in the season. There are however, some interesting plot points in this season. With the addition of Chris in the season 5 finale, we get to learn what he is really up to and if he is indeed someone looking out for the sisters or a new big bad.
The breakdown:
1 and 2. Valhalley Of The Dolls Parts 1 and 2 - With Leo missing, the sisters turn into Valkyries in order to save him.
3. Forget Me...Not - Wyatt conjures a dragon and it is loose in the city. The Cleaners also want to erase Wyatt from everyone's memory.
4. The Power Of Three Blondes - 3 blonde sisters want the Charmed One's identies. Pretty fun episode.
5. Love's A Witch - Paige stumbles upon a feud between two magical families and even finds love at the same time.
6. My Three Witches - Chris tries to teach the sisters a lesson.
7. Soul Survivor - Paige tries to save her boss's soul, even at the risk of losing her own.
8. Sword And The City - Piper pulls Excalibur out of its stone and consequences arise.
9. Little Monsters - The sisters become foster parents for a half demon baby, without Chris' approval.
10. Chris-Crossed - Bianca, a assassin from the future, arrives to try to take Chris' powers.
11. Witchstock - Paige is taken back in time where she encounters Grams, who was a hippie.
12. Prince Charmed - Phoebe and Paige conjure "Mr. Right" for Piper as a birthday present.
13. Used Karma - Phoebe is possessed by the spirit of Mata Hari.
14. The Legend Of Sleepy Halliwell - The sisters discover Magic School and must save it from the Headless Horseman.
15. I Dream Of Phoebe - Phoebe frees a genie from a bottle and becomes one herself.
16. The Courtship Of Wyatt's Father - Piper and Leo are trapped in the ghostly plane, with a darklighter on their tail.
17. Hyde School Reunion - Phoebe reverts back to her troublesome teenage self, as her high school reunion approaches.
18. Spin City - Piper is cocooned by the spider demon and Paige, Phoebe and Leo need to save her.
19. Crimes And Witch Demeanors - Darryl is on trial for murder and it is up to the sisters to save him.
20. A Wrong Day's Journey Into Right - Paige conjures up her own Mr. Right for personal pleasure but unbeknownst to her, releases his evil twin, Mr. Wrong.
21. Witch Wars - The sisters are on a demonic reality show, with them as the prey.
22 and 23. It's A Bad Bad Bad Bad World Parts 1 and 2 - Phoebe and Paige are transported to a parallel world where evil dominates everything.

Charmed - The Complete Seventh Season (2004) Review

(More customer reviews)Season 7 is a very interesting year for the world of Charmed. When it is bad, it is REALLY bad but when it is good, it is REALLY good. It really is a hit or miss situation.
The best episodes would have to be the ones near the end of the season but there are also some spread out through the season. Some of the best: Something Wicca This Way Goes, Witchness Protection, Charmed Noir, The Seven Year Witch, Srcy Hard and Death Becomes Them.
The worst episodes: A Call To Arms, The Bare Witch Project, and Once In A Blue Moon.
The Complete Rundown:
1. A Call To Arms - When Piper and Leo attend a Hindu wedding, they become possessed by Hindu gods. This episode is alright, but doesn't seem strong enough to be a season opener.
2. The Bare Witch Project - A student at magic school accidently conjures Lady Godiva, and the sisters must help return her to her time so she can finish her ride. Slightly better than the premiere but still doesn't live up to "Classic Charmed"
3. Cheaper By The Coven - Chris' wiccaning is upon us and the sister summon Grams for help, but when a spell goes awry, the sisters revert to their teenage selves. Fun episode that brings back favorites like Grams, Patty and Victor.
4. Charrrmed! - A pirate comes to town searching for the fountain of youth. Most people did not like this episode, but I did find it entertaining. Depends on your tastes.
5. Styx Feet Under - The Angel of Death is back after Paige casts a spell that blocks all death. Very well done episode, really good acting here.
6. Once In A Blue Moon - The sisters are transformed into beasts. Bad episode. Really boring.
7. Someone To Witch Over Me - Guardian Angels are being captured. Meanwhile Leo goes on a vision quest. Fans of Drew Fuller will enjoy this because Chris makes an appearance.
8. Charmed Noir - Paige and Angent Brody are trapped in a 40's Noir book. One of the best episodes of the season. Smart, fun and true to the time period.
9. There's Something About Leo - The sisters find out Leo is an avatar and the consequences are dire when Kyle Brody finds out. Interesting episode.
10. Witchness Protection - The Seer is under attack and the sisters reluctantly help her. One of my favorites, Charisma Carpenter is great as the Seer and she finally gets more screen time than in Cheaper By The Coven and Styx Feet Under.
11. Ordinary Witches - Paige takes Kyle back to the past to find out how his parents died. Interesting episode, but more leading up to the next episode/s.
12. Extreme Makeover: World Edition - The sisters are about ready to makeover the world, when Kyle casts a paranoia spell on them. Good episode. Serves as a part one to Charmageddon.
13. Charmageddon - Leo forms an unlikely alliance with Zankou so he can try to reverse the change. Good episode, conclusion to Extreme Makeover: World Edition.
14. Carpe Demon - Drake, an ex-demon, applies for a teaching position at magic school and ends up taking Phoebe on a wild ride around San Francisco as Robin Hood.
15. Show Ghouls - Phoebe and Drake are transported back to 1899, to help find out what happened at a cabaret. Fun episode.
16. The Seven Year Witch - Piper ends up in a coma, Leo loses his memory and tries to find his way back to his family and Cole returns to restore Phoebe's faith in love. GREAT episode, and also features the final appearance of Cole.
17. Scry Hard - Wyatt shrinks Piper and Leo into a dollhouse. Good episode, exciting.
18. Little Box Of Horrors - The sisters must find Pandora's box before someone unleashes the evil inside. Good episode but not as exciting as some episodes before it.
19. Freaky Phoebe - An ugly sorceress switches bodies with Phoebe. Alright episode.
20. Imaginary Fiends - Wyatt's imaginary friend is a demon who is trying to turn him evil. Good episode, also sees the return of Adult Wyatt.
21. Death Becomes Them - Dead innocents from the sisters' past comes back to haunt them, thanks to Zankou. Great episode. Dramatic, emotional and all around good. Also serves as a part 1 to Something Wicca This Way Goes.
22. Something Wicca This Way Goes - The girls finally go after Zankou when he gains control of the Nexus. Great episode. Was originally intended to be both a season finale and a series finale. Conclusion to Death Becomes Them.
As you can see, there are many more good episodes here than bad. There are just as many clunkers here than with any other season, perhaps even less than usual. With the show still up in the air, the finale was intended to be a series finale if necessary, but thankfully we get one final season.
I recommend this to all fans of the show, especially seeing as we are now in the home stretch. 7 down, 1 to go! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Double Teamed (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)"Double Teamed" is a great movie--and it's a true story, too. =) Based on the real-life stories of Heather and Heidi Burge, this film follows the lives of twin girls with a mother who just wants them to be happy and a father who is willing to do anything to make sure they prepare for their futures, even if it means transferring them to a different school so they can play sports. The girls adjust quickly to their new school. Heidi finds a niche in the drama/acting department, and Heather finds herself a spot on the basketball team (the twins are very tall, so the coach is practically begging them to play, haha). The girls' father literally forces Heidi to quit the school play in which she got one of the lead roles and join the basketball team with Heather. This does not go down well with Heidi, especially since she is not as athletic as her sister and therefore feels overshadowed by Heather. But the girls work at it, and they grow to love playing on the team. There is one setback, though: a rich snob on the team named Nikki who resents Heather and Heidi because they are threatening her position as the "star" of the team. But things do get better throughout the movie....it's just a really good movie and I would definitely recommend it.

Jett Jackson: Movie (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)"Jett Jackson The Movie" is like a cross between "The Parent Trap" and "Pleasantville". Filmed near the end of the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson", it expands the series premise to a new feature length movie (this is all new stuff-not a group of old episodes edited together). As in the series, Lee Thompson Young plays the title character-a high school student who is also the star of a futuristic television series where he plays a teen action hero named Silverstone. At the beginning of the movie he is struggling with whether to renew his contract with the show, which is seriously cramping his school and social life. Meanwhile on the show his Silverstone character is unhappy working at Mission Omega Matrix.
One day on the set a malfunctioning prop transports him to a parallel world where he is actually the action hero he is playing. The accident causes him to switch places with his on- screen character, who is transported to Jett's world of family, school, and television. The remainder of the movie concerns the process of Jett and Silverstone figuring out what has happened to them and the challenges of taking over each other's lives. Both the series and the movie have excellent casts with Michael Ironside as the television villain Kragg, Lindy Booth as Silverstone's partner Hawk, Ryan Sommers Baum as Jett's friend J.B., and Kerry Duff (no relation to Hillary) as his love interest.
This is an entertaining film, especially for those who enjoy the series. It has the good production elements of more expensive Disney features including a lot of close-ups of the cast and some nice morphing effects. The series itself was a cheaper production, it relied mostly on wide shots and had minimal effects.
The film's limited popularity is probably because it is a bit too serious; they could have had a lot more fun with the premise. Young is not very good at expressing wide-eyed wonder at what is happening to either of his characters, he just looks stunned most of the time.
Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.
