(More customer reviews)I wasn't really sure what to expect with Robert De Niro in a more comedic role and the so-so reviews of Meet the Parents. Well, let me be the first to tell you that all theses reviews were wrong and De Niro shined in his role as the father. The toilet humor of There's Something About Mary is still present in Meet the Parents--I won't give any of it away since the shock factor is what makes these scenes so hilarious. Ben Stiller is wonderful as Gregory, the misguided yet well-intentioned boyfriend of Jack's daughter. This movie had so many well placed comic moments that I never really stopped laughing. Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller make such a great pair because of the fact that they are such polar opposites. De Niro's paranoia feeds Stiller's own paranoia and makes for a lot of awkward but humorous confrontations. Their misunderstandings range from the hidden meaning of "Puff the Magic Dragon" to premarital relations. Mixed in somewhere within the gags and the shock humor is a nice romance story that is somewhat generic but never overshadows Stiller and De Niro's relationship. Meet the Parents is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time and I implore you to see it.

Prehistoric Planet - The Complete Dino Dynasty (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)Ignore the reviews bashing this program for recycling footage from the BBC Walking With series. Of course it's recycled, that is EXACTLY what the package says! It was reworked into a Saturday morning show for a younger audience. And it succeeds wonderfully at reaching that target audience. This show is great for young kids, about 3-8 years old. Hopefully, they will be able to eventually also enjoy the more academic original series of programs. But these are more accessible and I am thrilled to have them be preferred viewing over many of the other programming available on TV. Definitely, if you have a young paleontologist on your shopping list, this is a must!

Double Teamed (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)"Double Teamed" is a great movie--and it's a true story, too. =) Based on the real-life stories of Heather and Heidi Burge, this film follows the lives of twin girls with a mother who just wants them to be happy and a father who is willing to do anything to make sure they prepare for their futures, even if it means transferring them to a different school so they can play sports. The girls adjust quickly to their new school. Heidi finds a niche in the drama/acting department, and Heather finds herself a spot on the basketball team (the twins are very tall, so the coach is practically begging them to play, haha). The girls' father literally forces Heidi to quit the school play in which she got one of the lead roles and join the basketball team with Heather. This does not go down well with Heidi, especially since she is not as athletic as her sister and therefore feels overshadowed by Heather. But the girls work at it, and they grow to love playing on the team. There is one setback, though: a rich snob on the team named Nikki who resents Heather and Heidi because they are threatening her position as the "star" of the team. But things do get better throughout the movie....it's just a really good movie and I would definitely recommend it.

Tropic Thunder (Unrated Director's Cut) (2008) Review

(More customer reviews)There's no doubt that Tropic Thunder is one of the funniest movies of the year- if not THE funniest movie of the year. I remember seeing in the theater and laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. I was excited when I found out that there was an unrated DC coming out... 2 discs, and 15 more minutes more footage.
However, as much as I gotta say the movie rocks, I have to say: BUY THE THEATRICAL CUT INSTEAD. The unrated version slows the movie down a bit, and most of the added stuff doesn't seem to fit in. They changed some funny lines, and even took some out as well. In fact some of the added stuff makes the movie feel a lot longer than it really is, and after awhile the movie seems repetitive, which is one of the few things that killed the movie for me.
So if you're planning on buying the DVD, get the single disc rated version instead... this movie is definitely one of the funniest I've seen, and I definitely look forward to owning it, but really, just get the theatrical. It's MUCH better.
