(More customer reviews)I bought both Lady M's dvds. I didn't find one harder than the other. The second one is contains more moves, but i liked the ending Demo in the first one better.
The instructor is respectful, careful, slow, patient with herself, and perfect at teaching shy people to be more bold with eye. She's a woman's woman, you admire her, you like her, you listen to her, she's non-threatening while being a sex-bomb all at once. In short, she's pretty much a delight, and really the perfect teacher for exotic dance.

She makes you want to buy a giant feather fan and get some pasties and stockings with bows on them, mix a cosmopolitan and just slowwwwwwwwwww down, baby, and pretend you are about to use your feminine moves search-out, seduce, then throughly destroy James Bond all without compromising your self-respect in the least.
My only complain is the moves were repeated slowly way too many times, and I don't get why they repeat something slowly twice or more, since that's what chapters on dvd's are designed for. That frustates and annoys me. I enjoyed all the costume changes tho! Loved that!
The "full choreography" routine at the end was a dissapointment in that it's full of talking, and stopping, and advice, where as that all should have been done the step-by-step and choreography parts of each routine. The final, full dance should be silent so you can concentrate on preforming.
But none of these complaints take away from the care or attention of the instructor or the sexy unhurried, unrushed atmosphere.
If you're a hardcore athelete or a pole dancer, this will be way too slow and easy unless you are looking *to* slow down.
I'm glad I own it. As a final visual reference, think of a britney spears video melting *very* slowly......

Margaret Cho - I'm the One That I Want (2000) Review

(More customer reviews)I found myself gasping for air a couple of times during this stand up routine, from simply laughing so so much! To be honest, I never expected Cho to be as affable, accessible and plain funny as she proves to be here. Nothing she'd done that I'd seen before prepared me for the warmth and good nature she brings to the stage. If you are like me and think that her jokes will only appeal to gays, lesbians and Asians, you are flat out wrong. In an almost Lenny Bruce-like fashion, without as much fire and brimstone, Margaret Cho nails her jokes with ease, flair and an almost deceptively devlish good-girl grin. I took a chance and bought this DVD after hearing good things about the movie release. Not only am I thrilled I did, but I have since shared it with friends and family just to re-experience moments that are rarely seen in stand up comedy. More abrasive than Ellen DeGeneres, Cho is part Richard Pryor-part Carol Burnett, and charming all the way! This woman's got GUTS and laughs to last a lifetime! But it - you'll love it.

(More customer reviews)I am huge fan of SIMPLE LIFE. I will have to say they make idiots of themselves and make you laugh! This season is not as funny since they are not working together. When they work together they feed off of each other humor and stupidity.......Some of the smallest tasks they are given they turn into the biggest things. Then there are others that I would never have thought of adapting to. I will still add SIMPLE LIFE Season 4 to the collection of 1-3. These are things you can watch over and over and laugh as if you have never seen them before!!! Nicole needs her own TV show!!!!!

(More customer reviews)I caught a few random episodes and remained vaguely disinterested, but I've grown to love the show on dvd. The point where I realised the show had more going for it than just rich girls being high maintenance was the part where Nicole's making fun of the baseball players' stretching, "Can you guys do it at the same time ... and touch each other while you do it", and then trying to convince the opposing team's coach to cheer for her team, all the while Paris is just standing around trying to look pretty. Maybe Paris would actually be cool if she wasn't doing the fake cutesy voice and persona all the time, who knows, but anyone who finds the world at large to be an oppressively formal place will find comfort in Nicole's irreverent vulgarity.

Especially because they are a lot more episodes where Paris actually tries to work and to help others not like any of the past seasons where she doesnt want to get dirty or she doesnt even try. This season has more comedy to it and Paris shows america that she is a nice intelligent person and that she is not just a 'dumb blonde.'

(More customer reviews)I have every season of The Simple Life and I have enjoyed the first seasons until season 4, when Paris and Nicole had their feud. But even though they didn't work together the season was fine. So now that they got together again to make season 5, I thought that the show was going to be really funny. But I really found it not so funny. This time they go to camp and there are not really fun scenes. I think that one of reasons can be, that they are in another stage of their lifes. I mean they are in their late 20's so making stupid things (Let's be honest. The show was fun because they were always making stupid things. Funny but stupid) is not so funny any more. And the other I think, was that there was nothing exciting in the stories that they made for this season.
I heard that season 5 is the closing season of the series. I think that it wasn't a good idea to end a show that had had success without closing it big.
Finally I must say that the DVD production is not good at all. It doesn't have special features. You can only find the usual DVD enhancements such as scene seletions or subtitles (this one includes subtitles in English, Spanish and French).
If you are a follower of the show, buy this one but if you want to buy a season for any reason. Try the first three seasons (the best ones for me are season 2 and 3).

Human Trafficking (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)Human Trafficking is a bold and ambitious project; Lifetime is to be congratulated for exposing a part of society most people would prefer to ignore, and doing so in a mature, serious fashion. Originally designed as a mini-series, it is presented here in its entirety, with convenient breaks. This is helpful, at three hours it may be too much for the average viewer to assimilate all at once. Even the jaded appetite will find Human Trafficking upsetting.
One must wonder about those who claim ignorance of sexual slavery as it is practiced around the world. This appalling behavior is more than merely time-honored; it is codified and woven into the fabric of society itself. What is surprising, and what Human Trafficking gets right, is that sexual slavery is alive, well, and lucrative. Like drugs and weapons, a filthy business like this can only exist where there is powerful market demand, and that demand is chillingly close to home.
Human Trafficking benefits from good directing, (Christian Duguay), and some splendid performances. Leading the way is the lovable Scot from The Full Monty, (Robert Carlyle), who plays the Eastern block criminal mastermind behind the sophisticated sexual gulag. His accent is impeccable, and his character well realized. Sergei Karpovich is no Cold War ham-fisted brute. He is smart, computer-savvy, and thoroughly ruthless. (Like so many inner-city drug dealers, under different circumstances he probably would have been a captain of legitimate industry.)
After Carlyle, the showcase performance here belongs to Isabella Blais, (Helena), one of the women whose decent into sexual slavery is tracked. Helena is certainly not stupid, but she is vulnerable, and we watch in horror as one bad decision lures her into an unimaginable nightmare. We also see some of the ingenious techniques used to ensure cooperation. This is where Human Trafficking really shines. It's never sensational, licentious, or titillating. On the contrary, it exposes the complete banality of evil, the disturbing ordinariness of it in flat details that do not manipulate emotions.
There are two problems with Human Trafficking. At times it gets preachy, explaining the story rather than telling it. (With subject matter this explosive, that is completely unnecessary.) The other is the casting of Mira Sorvino. Sorvino is a fine actress, (her performance here is fine), but she is simply too pretty and adorable for the part. One scene attempts to show why she would take on the hideous assignment of catching these vermin, but it's not enough. Making her character female was an interesting decision, but to work, it should have been someone with more edge and less curve. Donald Sutherland, as her boss, excels.
We imagine our society to be advanced, sophisticated, refined. Thanks to the folks at Lifetime for shedding some light on the difficult truth.
