Sissy Spacek is incredible in this movie portraying a woman who is an artist and has also opened her home to foster children over the years. This time she takes in a girl, Hollis Woods, who is also an artist and has been shuffled from place to place over the years. She is a hard nut to crack, but through art and patience and love a relationship of trust finally develops. But all is not well--Spacek's character is forgetting simple things and it becomes evident that she is suffering from dementia. Throughout the movie there have been flashback scenes of Hollis' previous family where she was very happy. She had spent a summer with them at their cabin, but she took upon herself the blame for an accident which reinforced a feeling she had that she brings bad things to others. Unable to cope with that, she ran away from them. Now, as she sees that she will be separated again from someone to whom she has become attached, she takes the confused woman with her to that family's summer cabin in the dead of winter, where there is no food and no phone.
There is a very heartwarming ending, which happens to take place at Christmastime, so this can be a great movie to watch with family during the holidays.
When I heard about the movie's storyline I thought it sounded too sad and I wasn't sure I wanted to see it, but having seen it, I would highly recommend it as a positive movie experience.

MTV's Wuthering Heights (2003) Review

I saw this movie on mtv the first time they ran it. I waited for months and months. Immediatly after I saw it I wanted to see it again. It's that good.
I finally found it for 2 dollars at iggle video.
I'm sure you all know this is a modern twist on Wuthering Heights. It's not exactly like the book. But it is a wonderful love story and it will make you cry. From some of the reviews I'm wondering if anyone even saw the same movie I did or if they saw that it said MTV so they decided to rate it bad.

Love Takes Wing (2009) Review

We were so excited to see this next movie in the series. We even watched the previous titles to refresh our memory of all the details. So when we began the 7th movie, we were very disappointed to see that Belinda was so out of character from movie 6. Why didn't Scout play Belinda? Why didn't the director at the very least have her hair color changed to match the former Belinda? And we really missed the feisty demeanor that Belinda displayed in movie 6. It was a good story, but the change in the Belinda character was a distraction.

Love's Unending Legacy (2007) Review

Love's Unending Legacy (2007)

I have watched all of the movies since the very first one, Love Comes Softly, and fell in love with the series so much so that I bought the books to read and couldn't wait for this movie. I was very disappointed with this particular installment. This was so far away from the book that I didn't recognize it when I watched it. Other than the observations already noted (Belinda as Missie's daughter not sister, etc.), it also seems to have lost her brothers and their adopted son, Jeff. If there was only about 4 years difference between this movie and the last one, then her brothers would not have been old enough to be out on their own, yet there was no mention that they even exist. However, I am glad that they are able to keep Dale Midkiff as Clark, but think they could find a better substitute for Katherine Heigl as Marty. To kill off Willie just to give Missy a new love interest was a travesty. I gave it two stars and hope if they make the last books, they follow the books as best they can (outside of resurrecting Willie via a dream sequence).

In the latest Love series installment, two years have passed since the tragic death of Missie's husband Willie. Missie is forced to move back to her father's ranch in Tettsford Junction and ends up adopting a teenage orphan girl who tests her faith and strength. Missie is compelled to defend the girl's orphan brother who is being mistreated by his adoptive family all the while fighting her own feelings of love for the town sheriff.

Love Comes Softly (2003) Review

Love Comes Softly (2003)

I saw this film on the Hallmark Channel, and TIVO'd it to watch: I have since watched it a few times and will buy the DVD when it's released! Based on a novel by Christian historical fiction writer Janette Oke, "Love Comes Softly," centers on Marty, a young woman who travels West with her husband. When tragedy strikes this newly married couple, grief-striken Marty must find a way to survive the harsh land that she is surrounded by.

For those of you worried about content: this is a family-friendly film! There is no language that I can recall, no violence, and no adult themes. There is one scene where a man accidentally walks in on a woman taking a bath (nothing is shown), some squabbling between two people, and a woman preparing a live chicken for a meal, but other than that, I could not find anything objectionable.

This is a cute and family-friendly story, that promotes the themes of morality, love, honor, courage, faith, etc.

Based on Janette Oke's best-selling book series, and directed by Michael Landon Jr., Loves Comes Softly is inspired story-telling for the whole family. Marty and Aaron Claridge (Katherine Heigl and Oliver Macready) travel west in search of new opportunity. But when tragedy strikes and Marty is suddenly widowed, the young woman must face the rugged terrain, bleak weather, and life among strangers-alone. That is until a handsome widower named Clark Davis ( Dale Midkiff) suggests a platonic "marriage of convenience" until Marty can return home. As the months pass, through, Marty and Clark discover an unexpected new love where there was once only loss.
