I own over 200 DVDs and dance is by far my favorite. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this workout! It is professionally done, and the moves are very easy and fun! Jesus is an excellent instructor and I really liked his routine. Also the Latin was very easy to follow and fun. I would recommend this to anyone, I really enjoyed how they made the routines simple and upbeat. I would buy the next one they put out. I hope it's soon!

The Exotic Dance Workout (2007) Review

The Exotic Dance Workout (2007)

I'm giving this DVD a 4 because it says it's a workout & I really didn't "feel the burn".Its divided into thirds (standing, floorwork, and chair), with a bonus performance at the end. No warm up or cool down, but I honestly didn't need either one. I worked through all three back to back and didn't get the least bit sweaty.
I did feel sexy, relaxed, and generally happy with my body. Its zero impact (unless you fall off your shoes) and the movements are surprisingly elegant.
My complaints are that Lady M narrates as though she is leading a class, not a video (you have to reverse left and right to mirror her) and that sometimes the positions you should be in make it difficult to watch her. Neither of these are a deal breaker, though.

Dancing With the Stars - Cardio Dance (2006) Review

Dancing With the Stars - Cardio Dance (2006)

I had high hopes for this video; too high, perhaps. As another reviewer stated, the moves do go pretty fast after Maksim's part. My biggest problem is that there are no real explainations or instructions of the steps, the instructors just say, we're going to do this now, toss in a dance term, and then they do it. I had such a hard time trying to figure out what the steps were by the time I sort of figured it out they had moved on. This workout would probably be a good workout, provided you understand the moves and can execute them at the speed the dancers on the video can. I found it to be too frustrating and will have to be desperate for some exercise before I pop this in the DVD player again.

Dirty Dancing Official Dance Workout (2008) Review

First I will say this video is fun in it's way. I like the routines and the upbeat feel of the video but I was disappointed with the length and number of songs chosen. I was under the impression I was going to get at the very least a good 30 minute workout but this video doesn't deliver. It says on the package:
"Love Man" 12 mins
"Yes" 13 mins
"Johnny's Mambo" 14 mins
"Do you love me" 12 mins
and
"Saturday Night Dance Challenge" 11 mins.
THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!!!
I have tried running all the routines and this is only about 13 mins. Also if you try running each routine separately they are only about 2-4 mins long each. I have to do all the routines twice to get a good workout. It's really not very fun to go through it twice. :(
My other gripe with this video is that no matter if you are using a DVD player or your computer there is no way to skip all of the "warnings" and the stupid little intro telling you do do the syllabus first. One time is fine.
I wouldn't wast my money on this. You are better off getting one of the Yoga Booty Ballet videos or even Ti bo

So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit: Cardio Funk (2009) Review

So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit: Cardio Funk (2009)

Especially while the show is airing, who doesn't want to feel like they can be part of So you think you can dance! Totally fun to dance with a bunch of dancers from past seasons, and get a great workout at the same time.
Three different styles of dance routines (hip hop, contemporary, and disco), you can pick one or do all three, and there are separate chapters for the instructions to learn the routines that you can skip and go straight to the workouts after you get them down. Learning the steps is nice and slow, and easy to follow or repeat if you get lost. Then in the workouts they start with doing the routine counting, and get faster, add music, until it's more like a performance at the end - just music no counting at full speed. There is also a bonus dance that mixes the styles together. The dancers on the video are Travis, Katee, Dmitry, Twitch, Lauren, and Courtney.
My only slight complaint is the music is a bit generic, so you aren't going to feel like you are telling any kind of story in the routine like from the show, but after all it is an exercise dvd, so this isn't that big of a deal. It would be cool if they came out with a couple that were focused more on just dance so you feel more like a real routine though. But for now I'm pretty happy they did this at all, and I'm looking forward to trying the other one, Tone and Groove!
