(More customer reviews)Eloise, she is such fun. And I wish that I could live in the Plaza and share her adventures, and be her 'Mostly Companion.' Eloise played by Sophia Vassilieva was a perfect choice and was absolutely divine. And of course Julie Andrews!!! She is wonderful!
Everyone, in this film, is just so wonderful, that you feel that you are there! Everything is realistic, but make believe at the same time! Eloise, the clever, bratty, fun, loveable, sweet, and so caring is just the character that little girls love!
This movie is about 4 really main characters: Eloise (of course), Bill (the waiter) Nanny (Nanny), and Rachel, (The Plaza owners daughter). Eloise becomes involved in matchmaking. When Rachel returns from college with her fiance, Eloise and her become friends. And she finds out that Rachel loved the plaza when she was her age. She also finds out that her and Bill are old sweethearts and still secretly in love, against the will of her father who wants her to marry someone of importance.
And Brooks, her fiance is in his opinion perfect. But Eloise discovers Brookes secret, and contrives plots to get him out of the way and to put Bill in his place. Whether it's being kidnapped, spying, or helping the awful Mrs. Thornton have a Merry Christmas, Kevin Lima makes Eloise shine in the true spirit of the holidays!

Homeland Security (2004) Review

(More customer reviews)Television pilots that fail to be picked up as series are showing up on the shelves as movies and the transition is all too apparent. HOMELAND SECURITY was supposed to be a series for TV, a form of explaining how the Department of Homeland Security came into being after the tragedy of 911. The 'film' version is mildly instructive, mildly entertaining, and in the end it is a hodge podge of ideas of how a long series might run crammed into 87 minutes.
What begins as a diatribe against the lack of cooperation and interaction among the CIA, FBI, and military intelligence (lower case intended!) suggesting that had their been centralization of information, perhaps 911 could have been prevented, ends up as a sprawling mélange of ill-connected pieces. The problems arise in attempting to explain the intricacies of the schisms in Afghanistan (a lot of pyrotechnique footage for this confusing section) along with the preludes of terrorist sub rosa influx into the country, footage from the 911 events, and personalization of some of the perpetrators and victims - all in compressed time broken by obvious black screen moments where TV commercials were placed.
The cast (Tom Skirett, Scott Glenn, Grant Show, Marisol Nichols, et al) tries hard to make the fuzzy script (written by Christopher Crowe) work, but the direction by Daniel Sackheim is jittery and ultimately seems to sell out to the political Right - probably at the demand of the non-cable TV network. Probably at the inception of the idea of tracing the evolution of Homeland Security as a force more intelligent in centralization of information was a good idea. It just gets too watered down and relies on the repetition of the line 'it was all there in front of us waiting for us to connect the dots'. Still, some food for thought. Grady Harp, August 05

YOu can't forget Kate Smith singing God Bless America. For those Lincoln fans, historians, and school teachers, you will be pleased to hear Henry Fonda recite the Lincoln Address for Lincoln's birthday as well as Carl Sandburg, Lincoln Historian, and Charlton Heston who gives the second Lincoln Speech. Sandburg recites about Lincoln's humble beginnings in Illinois. The West Point Glee Club also sings America the Beautiful. Young Loretta Lynn sings God Bless America Again. The U.S. Army Fife and Drump sings "Off We Go" (Air Force), "Shores of TRipoli" (Marines), "Anchors Aweigh (Navy), and "The Army Goes ROlling Along" with Hee Haw's Roy Clark and others in the celebration. RObert Merrill sings America, The Beautiful; a patriotic medley by DAle Evans and Roy Rogers; The Gettysburg Address recited by Dame Judith Anderson, the U.S. Army Drill Team, The Star Spangled Banner by the Oberkerchin Choir, and God Bless America by Irving Berlin. I bought all of them at a local drug store for history teachers at my school and for my language arts class to study Lincoln.

(More customer reviews)I mean really, Tiffany "New York" is an absolutly horrible person. Not only does she look like utter trash (the fact that she can barely keep her eyes open due to all that eyeshadow is hilarious by the way), but well...she pretty much is trash. Despite her being a despicable human being with nothing to offer to men or the human race in general, I love this show. Mainly due to the fact that it makes me feel like a better person. Oh sure, I can be as bitter as can be (and how could one not be in a world where a person like "New York" gets their own reality show?) but at least I'm not a crazed, diva with an ego the size of Texas and no substance whatsoever.
