Take Me Home (2000) Review

Take Me Home (2000)

While it interesting to have some decent actors associated with this film, it is also very disheartening for any of Johns fans to see so many inaccuracies in this production. The songs are mostly all out of chronological order, and Chad Lowe trying to mime to Johns voice while "playing" unconvincing guitar, does not work. Kristen Davis does a nice job of portraying "Annie", but the film fails to capture the quality of John's music, or his deep commitment to the causes, that drove so much of his work. There is no attempt to analyse why his life became such a struggle for a man at the top of the world. If Hal Thau was indeed involved so deeply with this project, its a crying shame that so many of the production details were poorly researched. John was a highly intelligent and passionate man who spoke in Congress, and lobbyed politicians to help with his environment projects, but in this film he comes across as whinny and insipid - two things he was definately not.
The man deserved a better biopic of his fascinaing life than this tardy effort.

Radiohead: The Astoria London Live (2005) Review

The year was 1994. Radiohead was soon to release their brilliant sophomore album "The Bends" coming off of a large tour promoting their debut smash "Pablo Honey." This concert mixes material from both. While I am definitely more of a fan of The Bends than Pablo Honey, it is always a delight to see "Creep," their infamous hit single. Several other tracks from the first album stood out as well (most notably "You" and the grand finale of "Blowout" which is worth the price of admisson by itself.) Other highlights included "The Bends", "My Iron Lung", "Just", and a truly hypnotic "Street Spirit." Any fan of Radiohead would be insane not to own this (if not just to see Thom with his hair died blonde and Phil WITH HAIR.)
Overall, the songs range from good to mind-blowing which leaves the show with a rating of VERY GOOD. Jonny Greenwood is spectacular with the rest of the group feeding off of his wild energy. And as always, Thom Yorke is so entertaining to watch. This is what rock and roll is all about.

John Denver is one of the most successful and best loved recording artists of the 20th century. His easy going manner, fine voice, superb songwriting and dedication to environmental issues all combined to build a huge global fan base that has continued to grow since his untimely death in a plane crash in 1997. This superb 5-disc set is the definitive John Denver DVD release. There are three complete live performances with full band from Australia in 1977, Japan in 1981 and England in 1986. These are complemented by a solo acoustic performance from Japan in 1984 and his performances at Farm Aid from 1985, 1987 & 1990. The final disc has two hour long documentaries made by John Denver, his 1990 Earth Day program about environmental issues and his 1972 show about the Bighorn sheep of his beloved Rocky Mountains.

Chayanne-Vivo (2008) Review

Chayanne-Vivo (2008)

This guy is amazing. After selling 20million records came with an impressive change, the album SINCERO-2003, USA Grammy 2004 award nominee, plenty of beautiful ballads, crazy rythms an a magical superb catchy cumbia turns into steady-rock written by one of the best spaniard young songwriters of nowadays, Juan Mogica(the guy, now living between NYC, Madrid and Miami-I've searching his live-is a sort of crazy Nomad guy that has been written many of the greatest pop songs of the lately 10 years for the best latin artists and himself), and the album had an state-of-the-art production by Luis Ochoa, Rene Toledo(The producer of the best Julio Iglesias albums)and a couple of guys of his 90's era. After that amazing album that have sold more than one million records, Chayanne release a couple of personal and interesting as himself albums with great success. But now, this is a real musical revolution, maybe more for the latin audience, but I think that an artist that wait 30 years to release his first Live Cd-DVD looking for the perfection or is God or is too close.Only Peter Gabriel has that kind of artistic contemplation.
Chayanne is a very smart guy.And it's an unique artist. One between a million.I have bought and enjoy a lot of live albums and Dvd shows, but this is an unique one in a lifetime experience.
Recorded at River Plate, Argentina, land of rock and the latin country with more musical cultural level, and an audience mad because the impressive show than more than 60.000 people in HD quality with all his hits you can't doubt about it!!
ONCE IN A LIFETIME,CHAYANNE IS THE BEST.AN UNIQUE EXPERIENCE.
Mozart did, Beethoven did, Peter Gabriel did(And twice)AND CHAYANNE HAS DONE SOMETHING IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME IN THE LATIN MARKET:
A SHOW PLENTY OF MUSIC WITH BIG WORDS
I can't believe it and I'm one of the lucky guys that have both editions right in front of me!!This guy is amazing.
Excuse me ladies and gentleman, but I need to share with my neighboorhood this jewel again.
Thank you, CHAYANNE
