(More customer reviews)First off- all credit to the marketing and genius behind this one. Jam packed full of Weller's videos from 1977 to last years solo record. Every great single video from the modfather is here on a double disc dvd housed in a sturdy booklike case- from in the city to my ever changing moods to his solo breakthrough Wildwood. Of particular interest is the solo videos- many unseen in the us. For the Weller fan this is a dream come true. My only complaint is leaving out the promo videos for boy who cried wolf and heavens above( a great song and video). Other than that you get it all including top of the pop tv performances from the Jam(basically mimed tv performances) most of the Style Council highlights minus the aforementioned songs and all his solo videos. Great tunes great style and class videos. Proof that Weller is king is displayed on 60+ videos spanning his entire career. This is essential and a pure pleasure to watch- truly inspiring!!!!!

Radiohead: The Astoria London Live (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)The year was 1994. Radiohead was soon to release their brilliant sophomore album "The Bends" coming off of a large tour promoting their debut smash "Pablo Honey." This concert mixes material from both. While I am definitely more of a fan of The Bends than Pablo Honey, it is always a delight to see "Creep," their infamous hit single. Several other tracks from the first album stood out as well (most notably "You" and the grand finale of "Blowout" which is worth the price of admisson by itself.) Other highlights included "The Bends", "My Iron Lung", "Just", and a truly hypnotic "Street Spirit." Any fan of Radiohead would be insane not to own this (if not just to see Thom with his hair died blonde and Phil WITH HAIR.)
Overall, the songs range from good to mind-blowing which leaves the show with a rating of VERY GOOD. Jonny Greenwood is spectacular with the rest of the group feeding off of his wild energy. And as always, Thom Yorke is so entertaining to watch. This is what rock and roll is all about.

The Robbie Williams Show (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)You can think of Robbie Williams what you want- he was and is one of the most entertaining people in the biz. His jokes with the audience (and at this particular concert there were only 300 people admitted) are absolutely hilarious! The "RW Show" was his first live performance after "Swing when you're winning" (another must-have) and in the documentary you can see how nervous he is.
He presents old hits (Strong, Rock DJ, Angels..) as well as many songs from his (at that point) unreleased album "Escapology". He flirts with the audience, laughs at himself (e.g. when his guitar solo does not go the way it should) and makes sure that the 1h 30min show does seem way too short. My favourites on the DVD are "Strong" (I like how he changes the words), "Hot Fudge" (nice dance action) and "Ain't that a kick in the head" (including a hearty "i remembered the words!"). Oh, he also plays the guitar during "nan's song" but i have to admit that you can tell he just learned it. When I saw him in Europe this summer, his playing was well advanced.
This DVD is an absolute must for Robbie Williams fans but I think it can be very entertaining for people who don't know him yet. The documentary about the day of the show is awesome, showing Robbie fooling around backstage and his traditional prayer to Elvis right before the show starts.
PS: If you play the lights game and win, you are rewarded with an a-capella/unplugged version of "sweet home alabama"!!
