My daughter LOVES Charlie and Lola. She was 2 (now 3) when we first started to see them on the Disney Channel and was instantly drawn to them. My husband also loves them. I am American and my husband is British so it was great to have a show where they talked like Daddy. Lola is so funny and my daughter mimics her and has actually picked up the accent a bit (which my husband loves) She loves to say "never ever eat a tomato" which is funny b/c tomatos are one of her favorite foods. It is nice to see a bit of her father's culture introduced here. She eats a lot of the food that they talk about on the show (like sausage rolls and marmite sandwiches) and has even started calling the dog Sizzles. My 17 month old son is even starting to get into it. We have taped all of the episodes off of the tv but have been hoping for a DVD so we can play it in the van. We have bought the books and even got some sticker books from the UK when my mother in law went back this past spring.
As far as the show itself, it is a creative animation which conformed from books to tv rather well. It touches on many subjects from not getting the staring role in the school play to waiting for the first snow. Keeping with the Snoopy tratition, you never seem to see grown ups. It is all from the prespective of the 4 & 7 year old. It is captivating entertainment for your pre-schooler. I give it 5 stars.

Charlie has this little sister Lola. She is small and very funny. Lola will NEVER eat a tomato! She is also not sleepy and will not go to bed. And how will she cope when she is not well and may never smile again? It falls to Charlie to win her around, and he uses every trick in the book ? logic, humor, but mostly, the power of his imagination. Using 2D cel animation, paper cutout, fabric design, photomontage and archive footage, all the distinctive style and exuberance of Lauren Childs award-winning picture books come to life. Glorious music and sound effects help to conjure up fantastical worlds that only a child could invent, while realistic dialogue, voiced by children, ensures these magical adventures really resonate with kids.

Okay, so I loved Charlie and Lola the first time we flipped on Disney for Baby Jane, but if it's possible, I have fallen further in love with this show since I bought the first two seasons in boxed set. Here's why:
***The children are thoughtful and kind to one another (no bratty sass);
***Charlie and Lola are loving brother and sister in an age where siblings are rivals;
***They work through their problems together;
***They use their imaginations, in fact, the show's foundation is based on using the imagination;
***The kids are adorable, realistic to their ages, and have wonderful senses of humor.
16-month old Baby Jane watches an episode before bedtime with a big grin and smiling eyes, and I feel good about what she's absorbing. Heck, it's even soothing to have on in the background while I'm doing dishes. We've watched through volume five, and so far picture and sound quality has been excellent. I'll be watching this show when I'm fifty, it brings such a good feeling of love and humor into our home.
Thank you Lauren Child. You must have a beautiful heart.

My two and a half year old son loves Charlie and Lola. I love the sweet relationship between the two characters. It's imaginative, fun and the characters are always polite and respectful.
I have often been frustrated by the lack of information available regarding which episodes appear on each DVD, and have always appreciated it when other reviewers list the episodes. So here they are:
1. More Minutes
2. I am Collecting a Collection
3. Welcome to Lolaland
4. I Want to Draw Exactly More Like You
5. I Will Not Ever Never Forget You Nibbles (aired only a few times on Playhouse Disney)
6. Never Ever Never Step on the Cracks
Hope this helps!

Charlie and Lola, Vol. 2 (2006) Review

"Charlie and Lola" is a delightful series based on books by Lauren Child. It is seen on Playhouse Disney in the United States and on CBeebies in Great Britain.
In this series, Charlie has a little sister named Lola who is small and very funny. Charlie often helps Lola with her problems and though they have some sibling rivalry at times, they are usually pretty nice with each other. Lola often has an unusual way of seeing things, or can be a bit stubborn, but Charlie helps her to look at things in a new way or to try new things.
This DVD features six stories from the first season of the show. That's on less than Vol. 1, but it's still a great release. The stories are "I Am Not Sleepy and Will Not Go to Bed" (based on a book), "But That is My Book" (also based on a book), "Boo! Made You Jump!," "I Want to Play Music Too," "The Most Wonderfullest Picnic in the Whole Wide World" and "You Won't Like This Present as Much as I Do!"
The animation is unique and fun to look at. The main theme and background music are all very catchy. The British-accented dialogue and phrases also add a lot to the series."Charlie and Lola" airs full-screen on Playhouse Disney, but it is presented in widescreen on the DVD. Close-captioning is not offered --- there are subtitles instead. The DVD also includes a few bonuses / surprises --- watch for them to pop up while both on the main and episode-selection menus.

My son has been a fan of Charlie & Lola since he was old enough for TV. The characters have a wonderful sibling relationship - they are kind, thoughtful and sympathetic - just the kind of behavior I want my children to imitate. The British accents are just a bonus...very cute.
I've always appreciated it when other reviewers post the episode listings, so here they are:
1. What Can I Wear for Halloween?
2. Everything is Different and not the Same
3. I am Goody the Good
4. But We Always do it Like This
5. I am Going to Save a Panda
6. I Slightly Want to go Home
7. Do Not Ever Never Let Go
8. I Would Actually Like to Keep It
9. But I Don't Really Like This Present

My son watches Charlie and Lola on Playhouse Disney, and he's always enthralled with Lola's silly, innocent antics and their lovely British accents. We also have several Charlie and Lola books, which are equally whimsical.
Volume 3, My Little Town, does not disappoint!
Here are the six amusing stories found on this 72 minute DVD:
*I can do anything that's everything all on my own
*There is only one sun and that is me!
*I've won...No I've won...No I've won
*It wasn't me!
*Say "Cheese"
*My Little Town
The Special Features include:
*A snap game
*Funny outtakes
*Hidden surprises
(If you win the snap game, you unlock a CD ROM for playing cards to print and make.)
This release also includes English subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired (but subtitles are also great for children to learn to read!).
If you're looking for a benign cartoon series for your youngsters, you can't go wrong with Charlie and Lola. Unlike many shows geared to children, this DVD doesn't move at breakneck speed, feature dumbed-down dialogue, or include snarky characters or meanness.

Granny and Grandpa have given Charlie and Lola an amazing new play set called My Little Town with blocks, crayons, markers, stickers and a huge floor mat for drawing. But sharing it proves to be a bit of a challenge when the trees and flowers from Lola's park get in the way of the airport from Charlie's vast city. It takes a Martian invasion to help Charlie and Lola see that playing together is more fun than getting their own way. In this and five more wonderful stories, Charlie and Lola use their creativity and imaginations to make sense of the world around them. DVD Features:Other:Snap Game and Hidden SurprisesOuttakes
