My Classic Car: Jay Leno - Certified Car Nut (2005) Review

After reading a review of this DVD in the Orlando Sentinel, I knew it was perfect for my brother. He's a car nut too, though he doesn't have the money to own 80 cars. Leno also has classic motorcycles including a jet-powered one. The video is 100 minutes and gives you a look inside his personal collection.
You'll see a 1909 Stanley Steamer, a 1930 Duesenberg and a 1955 Buick Roadmaster, plus lots more.
Recommended for car lovers.

For Tonight Show host Jay Leno, cars are something very special. Leno is a serious car enthusiast, historian and writer, whose personal collection includes antiques, classics, customs, and some of the wildest things on four wheels. But these are no museum pieces--they are built to run, and Jay drives them all! On this very special My Classic Car DVD, Dennis Gage takes you inside Jay Leno's garage and test drives some of Jay's favorite cars and motorcycles.

The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave (2000) Review

Hilarious stunts, slapstick humor, outrageous characterizations, and just good all around schtick makes this an extremely entertaining movie for the family. The people who put this movie together realize that it was not intended for a cerebral study in filmmaking; it was meant to just flat out make you laugh. My wife and kids were just howling at various scenes ranging from the stinky lunch room to the slammy whammy infomercial. We must have replayed that slammy whammy infomercial over 20 times, proving how kids can appreciate well written comedy. This movie is not for the prudes, snobs, or bores but definitely for the hip, open minded, slapstick in most of us. Watch it with the family without any hesitation.

Break out the body-casts! The world's most painfully hilarious stuntman is back with a powder-keg of laughs! Super Dave Osborne (Bob Einstein) gives a crash course in comedy in this wacky adventure of daredevil antics, whip-lash humor and crash-test love that'll break every funny bone in your body! Things couldn't get much worse for Super Dave. After a near-fatal accident he discovers that he's been bankrupted by his swindling manager and foreclosed on by the bank. Devastated and ready to hang up his crash helmet, Super Dave finds strength in a klutzy-but-cute single mom (Gia Carides, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me!) and her ailing young son, Timmy. And when he learns that Timmy needs an expensive heart operation, Super Dave shuns retirement to raise the money. Even if it means facing off against his arch enemy, Gil, a slimy sports promoter (Dan Hedaya, Dick), to once again prove that he's not only the most outrageous dare-devil he's also the most accident-prone!

Down and Dirty with Jim Norton (2009) Review

Down and Dirty with Jim Norton (2009)

I purchased Down and Dirty with Jim Norton thinking it was going to be stand-up with Jim Norton. This DVD is hosted by Jim Norton, but is 4 - 30 minute episodes of stand-up by other comedians. Each episode you see less than 5 minutes of Jim telling jokes, so I was pretty disappointed. If you are an avid collector of Jim Norton stuff, I would say buy this DVD. But if you are looking for some true stand-up of Jim Norton I would say buy his other DVD, "Monster Rain" instead.

HBO premieres a four-part showcase for some of the comedy-club circuits most outrageous R-rated comics, hosted by the foremost practitioner of "cringe comedy" and co-star of the HBO series Lucky Louie Jim Norton. Each half-hour edition features an opening routine from Norton, who then introduces 2-3 comics per show, with each show ending with a top club headliner like Artie Lange, Andrew "Dice" Clay, Bill Burr and Patrice Oneal. The series deejay is Lemmy, beloved by fans of heavy metal as the hard-partying singer/bassist for Motörhead.
