(More customer reviews)I remember this show was pretty good. I liked X-Men and, though some saw this as a rip off of that franchise, it still was something different. I kind of wished they'd made them natural mutants like in the Marvel universe. But then I suppose they wouldn't have had thier super bad villians Genomex.
I was VERY excited to learn that this show was going to be released on dvd. That was until I found out they were releasing many dvds with a few episodes and a high price to each. That sucked. But now I just learned from tvshowsondvd.com that there was a boxed set coming out. Then I came here to Amazon and found it true! Yay! Only forty bucks for this set? THAT I can handle! As soon as I have some extra cash, this set will be mine!
Not the best sci-fi show out there. But it wasn't the worst either. Sadly this show didn't come back for a fourth year. Maybe some other station will pick it up. Look at the shows Sci-Fi Network has picked up and made into hits. While I'm not a completely dedicated fan to this series (I didn't see every episode and, out of the three seasons I probably saw less than 10% of them) I still would like to see it continue.
My main point is this: If you are a fan of X-Men or Fantastic Four or Avengers or Teen Titans or Justice League (or any other story where there are super powered humans and things of the like) this show is for you.

Stan Lee's Mutants Monsters & Marvels (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)A must-have for any comic book fan! Kevin Smith is in the interviewer's chair and does a great job of interviewing the ultimate comics man. Stan Lee tells his life story focusing on the creation of Spiderman and the other super-heroes he created during the 60's as well as some of the controversial moments such as when an issue of Spiderman was published without the seal of the Comics Code.
Additional features include an interview with Stan's wife.

In 1961, Stan Lee teamed with artist Jack Kirby to create the super-hero team, The Fantastic Four, changing the face of comic books forever. They then went on a creative rampage, creating the Incredible Hulk, the Mighty Thor, and the X-Men. Then, in 1964, Lee teamed with Steve Ditko to create a teenage super-hero with teenage characteristics. The amazing Spider-Man would become the most popular comic book character in the world. Larva (2005) Review

(More customer reviews)In a small rural company town where just about everyone raises cattle for the local meat company, strange things have started to happen. Kids out cow tipping one night discover a dead cow. Soon there are others. The new local vet gets called in to look at the mysterious deaths. He can not see any problem until what looks like a normal parasite comes in contact with a drop of his blood. It grows and he sends it of for testing.
Soon the vet is convinced that something is very wrong and the cattle should be quarantined, an idea not met with much approval by the locals. Unfortunately the vet has a reputation for yelling fire prematurely.
The plot develops nicely and the suspense builds steadily. Effects and acting are better than most. The ending leaves a little unanswered but most won't notice it. All in all it was a very nice tribute to the great monster films of a few decades ago. Check it out.

Ogre - Unrated (2008) Review

(More customer reviews)The Sci Fi Channel has taken it upon themselves to create the equivalent of the good old drive-in, Monster Of The Week event. Even though most of the viewers don't remember such things that is exactly what these flicks are. Cheep CGI has replaced cheep rubber suits or the rare Harryhausen spectacles. Now impossible monsters like the Ogre, Cyclops, and Basilisk are reviving the good old "monster movie".It's not about acting; that helps. It's not about plot. At least not original plots. It's all about 21st Century 91 minute comic books. "Show me the Monster!!!! Bring on ithe impossible stuff!"
Man against monster is the stuff of cave paintings. And that is why they are a guilty, or shameless pleasure and always have been ever since Edison first screened his version of Frankenstien in 1919.
If you cann't have fun with this stuff, change the channel and keep your crabby attitude to yourself.
Every Saturday when another one of these shows up, Forry Ackerman must smile down from some odd little spot in Heaven where plastic vampire fangs,black capes, scaley skin, and roaring dinosaurs are the norm.
Imagination and legend is not about blood, gore, and sadists with sharp edges. Mythos is not about space ships. It's about good and evil and the power of selfless courage against impossible odds. There is nothing more heroic than man against monster.
We all have to age. But if "growing up" means abandoning imagination and fun, day dreaming and creating, I totally refuse. As a life long sculptor, this has served me very well. Fun is mandatory.

As seen on the Sci-Fi channel, Ogre follows a group of traveling teenagers who stumble upon a small, ageless village. Here they find a paradise of immortality - the residents are free from disease and have an abundance of harvest. However, they soon discover that everlasting life had its price. The town made an ancient pact with the Ogre on the mountain: an annual human offering in exchange for status quo. The teenagers find themselves trapped as the villagers desperately seek their next sacrifice.
