WWE Survivor Series 2002 - Elimination Chamber (2002) Review

WWE Survivor Series 2002 - Elimination Chamber (2002)

This was the PPV that saw the introduction into another WWE creation called "The Elimination Chamber". Not ever seeing this match or this type of cage before, it was definately something watching. All the emotion, suprizes, and matches made this one of the greatest WWE PPV's they've done since they split the roster into two shows.
Tables Match: Bubba Ray & Spike Dudley, Jeff Hardy vs. 3 Min. Warning & Rico - This was great match full different table spots from various parts of the arena. The ending with the reunion of Bubba Ray & D-Von was without a doubt the moment of the night with me.
Crusierweight Champion Jamie Noble vs Billy Kidman - Above average crusierweight match but didn't do a good job following up the previous match.
Hardcore Match: Womens Champion Trish Stratus vs Victoria - It says something when these two had a better hardcore match than a majority of the males wrestlers who've had one. This looked like a real fight using all these weapons & Victoria in this "psycho bytch" gimmick just makes this match better.
WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs Big Show - This was a match that was more about getting a storyline over than having an actual match. Brock had a broken rib so he was limited in what he could do but in 4 mins., he did an F-5 to Big Show, had Heyman turn his back on him (which was being set up for weeks) & have Show cheat him out of the WWE Title.
Three Way Elimation Match: WWE Tag Team Champions Edge & Rey Mysterio vs Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs Los Guerrerros - Without a doubt, match of the year for me. You haven't seen off the chain tag team wrestling in WWE since this match. A wrestling clinic put on here by all six men.
Elimination Chamber Match: World Heavyweight Champion Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Rob Van Dam vs Kane vs Booker T vs Chris Jericho - This match didn't disappoint & honestly, was the best Chamber match to date. Everyone looked like they legitly could win the belt as one point or another and this match had alot of moments in itself. Like RVD jumping off the walls like he was SpiderMan and even leaping off the top of one of the cells onto HHH & injuring his throat in the process...and even HHH's performance after that injury is something worth watching.
Overall, a perfect addition to anyone's collection.

WWE WrestleMania 21 (2005) Review

WWE WrestleMania 21 (2005)

WM 19 didn't have it, WM 20 didn't have it, but last night, in front of 21,000 plus fans, John Cena and Batista defeated JBL and HHH to become champs of their own brands. This was an awsome ppv, the crowd was electric all night and the matches, several especially were worth it [Except the sumo match in my opinion]
Eddie Guerreroe vs. Rey Mysterio: What a great way to kick off the show, two of the best Latino wrestlers in WWE history use high flying and fast paced action to start it off. Rey wins again and Eddie shows a little teasing of turning on Rey, but then shakes his hand in a great match. 8.5/10
Edge vs Kane vs Benoit vs Jericho vs Christian vs. Shelton B.
Ladder Match
#1 contendership:
Wow, wow, wow. Just a famous match that people will remember for years to come. The things these guys did to each other took guts and preserverance. Shelton giving Edge the T-Bone suplex off a ladder, Benoit giving Kane a headbutt off a ladder.
Shelton running up the side of a ladder that was laying on another ladder to throw Jericho off was phenominal. Then Edge and Christian gave a modified conchairto to Kane with ladders, followed by Shelton jumping out of the ring to land on at least 5 other guys, Tomko included.
Edge wins after hitting Benoit with a chair and taking him out. Benoit's arm suffered the most after Kane gave him several arm crunches with a ladder on it. Truly a great match. 10/10
Randy Orton vs. Undertaker
Legend vs. Legend Killer.
Its official, 13-0 is now the new record that the Undertaker has. A great match again, with Randy reversing a chokeslam into a RKO, then his dad interfering, but the Undertaker prevailing was a great exciting match.
I saw a lot of signs that said 12-1 over the past few weeks, but let me just say no one can beat the Undertaker at a WM, just get used to that! 9/10
Trish Stratus vs. Christy Hemme
Women's championship:
I can't say this was great, but props to Christy to actually going out there with not much experience in front of millions of people and actually trying to be good. As you could tell, Trish wins to continue her streak.
I had a feeling Lita might have been a big factor, but she just mostly glared at Trish the entire time. 6/10
Eugene/Hassan/Hogan segment:
Just to pass the time and give the Hulkster to pump up the crowd. Eugene came out and started talking about his favorite moment [When midgets attacked King Kong Bundy] Then Hassan came out to beat up Eugene and make a WM moment of his own.
Then Hogan to the rescue, cleaning house and posing in front of a televised American flag. Funny, and memorable stuff.
Kurt Angle vs. HBK:
30 minutes of pure enjoyment and captivating action. All the near falls made the crowd shout and yell like crazy. A bad spot when HBK tried to jump on Angle through an announce table, but the table didn't break.
Lots of chain wrestling, near falls, a great sweet chin music by HBK, and a moonsault gone bad, followed by chemistry and drama made this the greatest match on the card!
Other than that, this is definately the match of the year, hell the match of the decade! Angle wins after making HBK tap out, only becoming the third man to make him tap. [The first was Jericho, the second Benoit] 11/10
Piper's Pit
Stone Cold Steve Austin as Guest:
Didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. Some good trading of words by both men, with Piper making fun of the crowd with the what chants. Then Carlito of all people comes out and makes fun of them.
Piper gets beat up by Carlito by about 10 seconds as Austin watched, then Austin and Piper beat up Carlito. They celebrate with beers and then Austin stuns Piper. Some funny stuff, would have made a great Raw also!
Sumo Match: Why, why, WHY was this match on so late in the card? I certainly didn't want to see two big men in practically no clothing fight after one of the greatest one on one matches in history, or after the awsome ladder match. Anyway Akebono wins and Big Show falls to the outside of the ring. 5/10
WWE Championship
JBL vs. John Cena:
The streak is over! We have a new Smackdown champion! The match was also a disappointment, only 15 minutes, maybe even less long. Cena hits the FU out of nowhere and pins JBL. I am not complaining though. Good match, for the ending, not great. 7/10
World Heavyweight Championship
Batista vs. HHH
Motorhead played HHH's music as he entered from a trap door in the stage. Motorhead wasn't as good as they were from WM 17, but the entrance was still cool.
The crowd erupted when Batista won. HHH got busted wide open, Ric Flair got spinebustered, and Batista is the new world champ. About twenty minutes of big man fighting, lots of struggle holds and knocking people down. Batista celebrated as the crowd went crazy. 9/10
This year's WM was definately worth it, especially for the Angle/HBK match, Orton/Undertaker match, the Ladder match, and the two world title matches just for the endings. I can't wait for May 10th!
I just got the DVD also and what a bunch of extras they have:
All nine parodys of the several of the most famous scenes in movie history.
When Harry met Sally
Taxi Driver
Pulp Fiction
Braveheart

These were the best ones [my opinion]
They also have the highlights of Kurt Angle, Shawn Michales, and the Undertaker. With HBK they showed how his Sweet Chin Music kick can be devastating. With Angle they showed the Ankle lock, and with the Undertaker, they showed all his 12 wins at WM going from 12 to 1 backwards.
The extra Battle Royal is a great thing to add to this DVD. Funny moment when 5 or 6 guys hold down Viscera when Scotty gives him the worm. Heidenreich rips open the padding on the top turnbuckle, and Akio gets face planted on the steel steps after being tossed out of the ring! Booker T wins for Smackdown 8.5/10
They also have when the WWE takes over Hollywood Boulevard with a ring and matches galore. Cena even stops traffic and gets in trouble with the cops. Finally, they have a two and a half hour induction ceremony of the Hall of Fame [But you guys already know that don't ya?]
This is a great DVD to add to your collection.

WWE - Rey Mysterio: The Biggest Little Man (2007) Review

WWE - Rey Mysterio: The Biggest Little Man (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In a span of over a decade, Rey Mysterio has become one of the wrestlers in the world to make the statement of "size doesn't matter" so true. He's become one of the most popular wrestlers of this generation & the heart he shows in & out in the ring has made his go past the level of success that other "crusierweight" wrestlers have achieved. Just like Hulk Hogan's DVD sets , you got your profile on the "619" DVD so not you get his anthology of matches on this one with comments from Rey throught the set.
When World's Collide '94 - Latin Lover, Heavy Metal, & Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Madonna's Boyfriend, Fuerza Guerrera, Psicosis - A great display of how AAA wrestling down in Mexico is done as you can get a glimpse of Rey early in his career.
(Also available on Rey Mysterio "619")
ECW 9/95: vs. Psicosis - This was their ECW debuts against each other. They mixed the classic lucha libre/crusierweight style with a mix of extreme action to create a different type of action never seen before in ECW & american...to the point that it caught Eric Bischoff's attention in WCW.
(Also available on "ECW: Path Of Destruction")
ECW 2/96: vs. Juventud Guerrera - This ISN'T the match that Heyman talked about on the "Rise & Fall Of ECW" as this was a very short match & not their best ECW "extreme lucha" performance. If you want the best one, check out the "ECW: Hardcore History" DVD.
Great American Bash '96: vs. Crusierweight Champion Dean Malenko - This was the match that put Mysterio & WCW's crusierweight division on the map in the United States. Malenko's groundbased style mixed perfectly with Rey's lucha libre to put on the first crusierweight classic match since the Pillman/Liger series 5 years earlier.
(Also available on Rey Mysterio "619")
Nitro 7/'96: vs. Crusierweight Champion Dean Malenko - Very similar to the previous match except it was shorter & Rey got his first crusierweight championship win.
(Also available on Rey Mysterio "619")
Hog Wild '96: WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Ultimate Dragon - This was a match where they kept trying to outdo each other by doing the same moves to each other at various times. This was more of a ground based match as the high flyin' didn't come into effect into the end.
Fall Brawl '96: WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Super Calo - Before I get started, I love Calo's mask with the hat & sunglasses in. They kept going back & forth between the two rings that were setup for the War Games later in the night. Check out the West Coast Pop from one ring to the next which hasn't been seen since the days of Brian Pillman
Halloween Havoc '96: WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Dean Malenko - This was my favorite match from their series of matches in WCW & one of the greatest crusierweight matches in WCW. They were fast paced & very intense.
Starrcade '06: vs. Jushin Thunder Liger - Very similar to the Ultimate Dragon match earlier where there was a heavy focus on mat wrestling as opposed to high flyin'.
Spring Stampede '97: vs. Ultimate Dragon - This was more fast paced & impactful than their previous match with Dragon working a stiffer style with suplexes, slams, and kicks while Mysterio still did his airal based offense.Halloween Havoc '97: Mask vs. Title Match vs. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Guerrero - Most peopel concider this the best match in WCW crusierweight history. The storytelling here was right on point with Eddie going after Rey's mask from time to time while showcasing the high flyin' & ground based lucha libre style. Classic match, no questions asked.
(Also available on Rey Mysterio "619" & "Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story")
World War 3 '97: vs. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Guerrero - Ranks right up there with their previous encounter but is always overshadowed by the previous match.
Thunder 1/98: vs. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Juventud Guerrera - This is the first WCW Thunder match on DVD. Mysterio wins the title once again in possibly his best match against Juvi in WCW.
Souled Out '98: WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Chris Jericho - This was at the beginning of Jericho turning heel & showing what he's capable as an entertainer. These two meshed well & gave the best performance of this PPV event with Mysterio's knee being worked on thoughout the match.
Road Wild '98: vs. Psychosis - This was a big slow at times to where you hear a couple of "boring" chants from the crowd. Just an average encounter between these two. I would have prefered their "One Night Stand" match more than this one.
Nitro 2/99: vs. Blitzkreig - Blitzkreig was a wrestler who was actually quicker than Rey but has the same type of offense as Rey. High flyin', high risk, and high impact moves here. One of Rey's last matches in WCW with his mask on.
SmackDown 7/02: vs. Chavo Guerrero - Mysterio's WWE debut. Chavo just being a body for Mysterio to showcase what he can do against with Chavo getting a few a few moves in here & there.
(Also available on Rey Mysterio "619")
SummerSlam '02: vs. Kurt Angle - This was completely off the hook and went past the call of duty of being a match to get the crowd hooked. This was fast paced & high impact with Mysterio & Angle giving you everything from technical to lucha wrestling. Awesome opener & if you watched Mysterio's "619" DVD, there is a funny story behind the opening of this match.
SmackDown 6/03 - vs. Crusierweight Champion Matt Hardy - I was at this match live & I can tell you that this was one of the best crusierweight matches in the history of WWE. This is the only time I can remember the Crusierweight Title main eventing SmackDown & with the fued having so much buildup as it had. Hardy showcased why he was so underrated at the time while Mysterio wouldn't give up with his bad leg & eventually the title.
SmackDown 1/04: vs. Crusierweight Champion Tajiri - Good back & forth match with Tajiri working on Rey's leg along with using interfearence from Sakota & Akio a.k.a. Jimmy Wang Yang. Mysterio wins the Crusierweight Title once again.
Great American Bash '04: WWE Cruiserweight Title vs. Chavo Guerrero - These two rarely disappoint in their encounters & this was no exception as eventhough WWE was starting to "ground" the crusierweights at this time, they still put on a performance that show the show at this PPV.
No Way Out '05 - w/Eddie Guerrero vs. WWE Tag Team Champions The Bashams - All four men worked well together here & with Eddie pulling off his "lying, cheating, and stealing" towards the end, this was a very entertaining match.
Judgment Day '05: vs. Eddie Guerrero - Another great match between these two with nice in-ring storytelling. This is the best Eddie has ever been as a heel. One of the top matches from their series.
Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show: vs. HBK - Unfortunally, it took Eddie passing away for this dream match to happen. Both men had similar styles & it was a very memorable match with Shawn working with someone who was alot smaller than him which is a rare in itself.
WM22: vs. World Champion Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton - Let me summerize this, Kurt Angle DOMINATES the whole match with the other two occassionally getting some spots in before Kurt is knocked outside the ring & Mysterio scores a quick pin on Orton. It's nonstop action for those 9 mins but it was disappointing for a World Title Match at WrestleMania.
Judgment Day '06: World Heavyweight Title vs. J.B.L. - This match was a step below their match months ago at No Mercy because throughout Mysterio's whole title reign, he was booked as the underdog because of his size instead of being able to hold his own. JBL dominated the match with Mysterio making the big comeback.
No Mercy '06: Falls Count Anywhere Match vs. Chavo Guerrero - This was more of an entertaining match than a wrestling match because they mostly brawled all over the arena which is something you rarely (if ever) see them do. But the only downfall was that it was the same type of brawl you see from everyone else when they go into the crowd but it wasn't bad.
SmackDown 10/06: I Quit Match vs. Chavo Guerrero - Very similar to their pervious match in that they stuck to more of a brawling style in this match and didn't fight all over the arena. If you liked their previous match, you'll like this one as well.
The only negative is that some of the matches get repetative but besides that, I recommend this one for sure.
