I recently viewed Night of Terror on the basis that one of my favorite actors, Rick Roberts, is in it.
I quite enjoy made for TV movies, and actually alot of the time prefer them to what's on offer at the cinema. "Night of Terror" is an ok way to spend 90 or so minutes; it's entertaining enough to get by.
The problem with this film is it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It starts off as a family drama and then ends up as a thriller. It trys to be both and fails in that regard. In terms of it being a drama there's just not enough there for us to get to know the characters and then it leaves the thrills right until the last 10 minutes of the film.
I don't know why they called the film "Night of Terror" when the "terror" part was the last 10 minutes of the film.
Acting wise, the cast did the best with what they could. Mitzi Kapture(great name!) did what she could as the lead, Jill. Rick Roberts (this guy's gorgeous!)was quite believable as the imperfect husband and did an admirable job, again with limited material. The standout perhaps was Nick Mancuso completely camp and over-the-top as the would be psycho Richard Grant. Not the most realistic performance, but still a heck of lof of fun. He actually made me laugh quite a bit, but you know I was laughing with him, not at him.
All in all, ok - but the script was too weak and that impacted the rest of the film. This material has been done before.
Thanks.
