I think this show failed because the focus was more about helping those ladies, not about embarrassing them, and the "beauty pageant" was not all about appearances. The cosmetic surgery may have been a bit much (though, for comfort's sake, a few came by their need honestly), but I believe the concept of the show was good, and should someday be revamped.

Fox's primetime reality series features "full-life" makeovers, complete with plastic surgery, for women who are in desperate need of a transformation on the inside and the outside. Life specialists ranging from fashion, nutrition, and speech, amongst others, will offer advice and guide women in their emotional and exciting journey. Rather than simply to make women over, The Swan's mission is to see how the participant's lives can radically change from their life makeovers. In a cross between the Olympics and a beauty pageant, the finale of the show will crown America's Swan as a panel of judges and viewers alike will get an opportunity to vote for the woman who has had the most amazing transformation from before to after. The Swan, was not just about cosmetic surgery, some women underwent reconstructive procedures as well. A young woman, severely burned in her childhood, was transformed into beauty pageant model.
