(More customer reviews)This is volume 1 of 2 and both were originally released by Platinum Disc Corporation which was purchased by Echo Bridge. However, all episodes on both discs contain an intrusive and distracting Platinum Disc logo in the lower right corner. You can find these episodes from other distributors such as Critic's Choice and even if they are slightly more expensive, are worth the extra money.

Private Secretary - Volumes 1-4 (4-DVD) (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)Growing up on the old Nick at Nite lineup where true classic television series were shown, I feel like the shows of the 1950s and 1960s were very much a part of my childhood so I was thrilled to see "Private Secretary" (later dubbed "Susie" in syndication) available on DVD. However, I never saw this series but I vividly remember loving "The Ann Sothern Show" and figured I'd give it a whirl. I'm very glad I did. "PS" is in the same vein as "Ann Sothern" and even features the same cast. Yes, the story lines are dated and yes, some of the jokes are corny, but the writing and comic timing of the cast is still fresh even after all this time. That being said, the only complaints I have about this set is the fact that only four random episodes are featured on each disc (equaling 16 episodes). "PS" ran for five seasons, so I'm actually a bit disappointed that an entire set or season hasn't been issued. There's also the problem with the quality. These episodes are definitely NOT remastered and as another reviewer stated, the soundtrack is warbly and, at times, static-y. While I'm thrilled to have any Ann Sothern television show available on DVD, I think that it's high time that some company starts releasing these old gems in a proper set. This show isn't for everyone and only die-hard 1950s sitcom or Ann Sothern fans will value this release...even if the music sounds like a drunk band is playing!

(More customer reviews)Beware I previously bought the same dvd but was in a different package. It comes as "The Lucy Show 30 episodes on 3 dvd's". It has a picture of her face and is in red trim. It is poor quality, but still enjoyable.

Video quality is good to very good as is the sound.
I bought it for the first episode (Decorating). If not for that go with Critics Choice Volumes One and Two. They contain 8 of the 9 episodes above with the exception of Decorating.

50s TV Comedy Double Feature: Life of Riley (1949-53) / Our Miss Brooks (1953) (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)The sound on the second part of this DVD (Our Miss Brooks) is hardly audible and should never have been released in that condition. Turning the volume up as loud as possible the audio on the DVD can still hardly be heard. There are only 4 episodes on this DVD not really making it worth the price of the item. Very disappointing. I am disappointed also in that this item would be sold by anyone being so poorly reproduced.
