(More customer reviews)I thought this was a pretty good fantasy epic made on a minimal budget. You can not really compare this to LoTR because LoTR was made on a nine figure budget were KofB may have been made on a couple million, if that. I think it was nicely made on the budget it was given, and it is also nice to see a fantasy adventure in a television world ruled by reality television and CSI clones.

Dodson's Journey (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)I am a 35 year old male, and although I don't have any of my own kids, I can say this film did a great job of making a soulful journey for a man that is wanting to keep his family in tact, while the wife is feeling that the relationship has ended. There are two kids involved, but the poetic nature of the film treats these matters with great delicacy and love in the midst of adversity. The pleasantness of this film is the simplicity of what is real an important. The relationship between him and his daughter is precious. One previous film done by this director: Simple Life of Noah Dearborn. I have not seen that one, but I am looking forward to it now after seeing this film.

Only weeks after his father dies and his eleven-year marriage abruptly ends in divorce, James Dodson decides to go on a fly-fishing adventure with his unforgiv-ing child. His goal: to heal his wounded spirit and explain the vagaries of life and love to his seven-year-old daughter, Maggie, who can't come to terms with the sudden disruptions in her life. Together, they wander towards the spirit and lure of America's mighty rivers to find understanding within their fractured lives. Along the way, James discovers the special relationship that a father can forge with his child as it is handed down through generations of love and learning.
