With 13 more new-to-DVD episodes full of awesome adventures and madcap mishaps, it's never a dull summer for Ben Tennyson, his cousin Gwen, and Grandpa Max. Especially with Ben's alien hero forms like Four Arms, Wildmutt, Stinkfly, and new aliens like Wildvine and Cannonbolt (Two of my personal favorites).
Episodes include:
"Truth" - An old friend of Grandpa Max has gone bad. It's up to him and Ben to stop his nasty plot.
"Grudge Match" - Ben and Kevin 11 have been abducted and imprisoned in a huge alien carrier where they are forced to fight other alien creatures.
"Gwen 10" - What if it was Gwen - not Ben - who found the Omnitrix and its alien powers within it ? This episode lets us find out.
"Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray" - The evil Dr. Animo returns for revenge. Ben must stop him again in rather bizarre alien combos thanks to a broken part in the Omnitrix.
"Ghostfreaked Out" - Ben discovers that Ghostfreak has escaped the device. Now Ben must find a way to get the ghostly alien back into the watch.
Special features include an episode commentary, another how-to-draw feature (this time, the fiery Heatblast), deleted scenes, and a in-depth look at Ben's alien heroes.
Well, I guess I'll be waiting for the third season of Ben and his LONG road trip. In the meantime, look for the new "Ben 10: Protector of Earth" video game AND the new live-action movie "Ben 10: Race Against Time" on Cartoon Network !

Ben 10 - Season 4 (2008) Review

(More customer reviews)We find out in Season 4 that there are alot of alien races out there that are fighting one another for control of the galaxy. As we all know, there is one 10 year old kid that ain't going to let that happen and that is Ben Tennyson. Season Four opens up with Ben living out a perfect day, perhaps too perfect-I'm afraid- as he soon discovers and things escalate from there. While most of the episodes walk a familiar ground, the plot thickens more as you soon discover before the Season is over. Team Tennyson may be no more. As for extras, we are given three alternate versions of the Ben 10 Secret of the Omnitrix movie. While each version has minor changes(different heroes used to combat the enemy, a pop up trivia version for fans, etc), they are still worth watching. I'm glad Cartoon Network included this movie with Season Four(it makes one less thing I have to buy in order to have the complete Ben 10 Collection). Other than that, nothing much to speak of.
While I'm older than the audience this series was created for, I can honestly say that it appeals to me too. See, Ben is living every kid's dream of being a hero and I think that is what appeals to fans of the show, including me. I mean, who wouldn't want to be a real hero?? Besides, the cartoon is fun with lots of twists and turns in the storyline. With all the aliens that Ben turns into and the things that he faces, that makes for alot of episode possibilites.
If you're into Ben 10 Alien Force, you owe it to yourself to pick up the series that started it all: Ben 10. I'll admit, I wasn't much of a fan til I saw the new show. The series is definitely worth picking up.
Now, it is time for me to pick up Volume One of Ben 10 Alien Force.

Ben 10 Alien Force 2 (Std Sub) (2008) Review

(More customer reviews)Season One Volume 2 starts out with Grampa Max. As we all know it was his disappearance that led to Ben using the Omnitrix again and starting them on their adventure. So, where is Max and what has he been up to? Well, we soon find out. The second episode finds Ben getting a date with a girl named Julie. Yet, like all dates, it gets ruined when an alien shows up and starts wreaking havoc. The third finds Gwen and Ben getting reunited with their long-lost Gramma. Through her, Gwen finds out alot about where her magic-wielding powers come from. And, lastly, School Bullies Cash and JT make an appearance and steal some alien technolgy & it is left up to Ben to save the day. The only extra is "DNA of a Scene" a short featurette that recreates a scene with original script notes, storyboards & the finished product.
While I love Ben 10 Alien Force and recommend you get this if you've got the extra money, my gripes still ring on. It is beyond me why Cartoon Network & Warner Home Video would put so many episodes of a season onto DVD when we're in the midst of Season 2 now on TV. Besides, the episodes appear to be out of order on the DVD as they originally aired on TV. It's a real disappoinment to me and other Ben 10 Alien Force fans, I'm sure, as well. If it were any other series, I don't know if I'd recommend you buy the episodes. However, considering that it is Ben 10 Alien Force and the show keeps you engrossed throughout, I have to recommend it.
Season 1 Volume 3 won't be out for a couple of months. Look back here later on for another review from me. Let's hope that Cartoon Network and Warner Home Video wise up and give us the whole season on DVD at some point. This is ridiculous.

Scrubs - The Complete Second Season (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)Turn on your TV. Watch the same formulaic comedies day after day on the networks. Watch your intelligence quotient begin its downward spiral. Scared? Ok, now turn on Scrubs. Every so often a show comes along that breaks the network formula, and brings a richness to a genre that is sorely lacking in originality. Scrubs is that show, and has been for several years running.
Scrubs hooked me with the very first episode I ever saw. At first I was skeptical. Medical comedy, hmm Ok, there is going to be bad sophmoric humor and haven't we seen medical shows about a million times? Five minutes in, it hit me. This show was actually brilliant; Intelligent, quirky, and sometimes wacky humor coupled with real drama and tearful emotion and writing that continues to amaze week after week. At that moment, Scrubs inherited the void left by Seinfeld's departure as TVs best comedy.
The quirky nature of the writing, especially JD's fantasy sequences, improves in Season 2. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke are far better, and far more comfortable, in their respective roles as JD, Turk, and Elliot than in Season 1. John C. McGinley is bar none the best actor on TV today as Dr. Cox. He becomes a more understandable and likeable character as this season progresses. And of course, Neil Flynn and his fantastically offbeat humor as JD's Janitor nemesis.
The season 1 finale left a lot of questions in the air. Would Carla and Turk resolve their problems and find happiness? Would JD and Elliot fall in love for real or are they destined for friendship? Most importantly, woud the father-son relationship between JD and Dr. Cox ever be the same? Season 2 resolves these questions fairly early, leaving the majority of the season devoted to pure laugh out loud moments and amazing guest stars like Heather Locklear, Tom Cavanaugh, Rick Shroeder, Jay Mohr, and the gorgeous Amy Smart as Tasty Coma Wife. The show seems to be successfully moving away from the gimmicky plot twists and each episode is a neatly comprehensive show. With shorter dramatic arcs, the humor and acting are center stage and the cast and crew sparkle. This set is a solid winner, with plenty of entertaining extras, and is an absolute must have for any Scrubs or TV comedy fan.
