Most of them include at least one of the following: irritating slapstick humor, talking dogs, goofy kids, horrible songs, a miscast actor claiming to be a fireman, or a ridiculous storyline that distracts youngsters from whatever factoids about the subject are being thrown at them.
"Firefigher George" is not like this at all. This video is like a really successful field trip to a fire station. In it enthusiatic adults explain how a pumper engine works and go over the basics of fire saftey. Believe me, that's enough to keep your junior firefighter enthralled. What the makers of other videos don't seem to realize is that firefighting is interesting enough: all the jokes, etc. are not needed. I think "Firefighter George" was produced by people who know a bit about primary education. The information in the video is presented in a coherent, accessible way and the visual aid on the video box really gets my son and nephews involved in the experience. Adults will learn a lot too. Yes, you can watch this one with the kids and not cringe. I hope to see videos on other subjects by this company.
